Lets stir the pot to create some interest !!

Who can come up with the oldest Schrade on the Forum??? Alternately if you dont have old ones tell us your favourite Schrade and why???

Ill start.
Mine is the Aurum Deep Acid etched Decorative Bowies made by Schrade like the NRA one I posted a pic of earlier in other post. I didnt like them at first but the shape has grown on me and the etching is beautiful. I Think the blade was designed extra wide for etching??

Ive heard there are also a few other deep etched bowies?? I know there is a Sam Colt version and perhaps a few others???
I like them because they give a very slight 3D appearance, unique!!

Anyone else??? It doesnt matter if some may think its junk if you like it tell us why.
Regards Tim

Thanks that is superb condition for its age!!!

Below is Schrade bowie I found off web, never seen one on ebay. Appears to have mirror polished blade.

My oldest Schrade, at least the one I've owned the longest, is a 34OT that I've had for 30 years.

My fave rave is the TEXAS Bowie shown above by Timstools, won it about a year and a half ago, comes with lined wooden box with the TEXAS Rangers
symbol stamped into the wood.

Timstools, Search Texas Rangers on e-bay rather than Schrade, as many folk do not know who made them.

I have a Schrade deer slayer from the early 1980's, and it has influenced the designs of some of the knives I make. I like the sleek lines of that knife, that lends beauty to it, yet at the same time it is really simple. Cuts like a scalpel, and has handled many hunts, and livestock as well. My customers have made those comments when they look at some style of hunters and skinners I have made.

I'm a simple fella, my favorite is the 787 single spring muskrat, just need to find a walden or cut co with pick bone, and not delrin.

My oldest in age is probablly a couple of H-15's I just picked up or my schrade walden hunters pride switch. but my personal oldest and one of my favorites is my plain old 8OT. how do you go wrong.

This is probably the oldest I have. A Schrade Cut Co 2013 easy opener. I can trace it back as far as 1926 with the info I have.

Well, it's kind of hard to pick a favorite but if I had to I think it would be this Schrade Walden, NY 883 Stockman. It's just the feel of that bone in your hand...the staglon or derlin just can't duplicate.

As for the oldest, I think it is safe to say that this little guy is from 1946 or very close to that. One blade is stamped Schrade Walden, NY... and the other Schrade Cut Co. Walden NY

Nice!!! Thanks all keep it up!!! Anymore anyone!!! Ive seen a few pre- 1920 schrades on ebay I thought there must be someone out there on forum who owns one??? Even earlier perhaps??? Earliest so far is estimate 1917 to 1945. I know early ones had dates on them!

Rusty, thanks for the tip!! Perhaps you could sell me yours???Just kidding!! The sheild on the handle and the stamp running vertically for some reason make it a much more attractive knife!! Nice pattern in handle too!! Very nice knife. Enjoy
Cheers Tim

Timstools, there also have been some of the Schrade plain bowie knives floating around on e-bay now and again, they are almost exactly the same as the Texas rangers bowie, although they have no tang stamp and the wood handles does not have a badge either, I bought one for $120.00 around about a year ago, nice knife to have in the collection, they were over run from production and were released after Schrade closed their doors. Originally they were made for Colt and other special factory orders. have you seen them out there?

G'Day Tim,There are 2 of the blank, Schrade made, Smith and Wessons Rusty is talking about in that fixed blade photo I sentyou if you want to reproduce. As Rusty says they were overruns. Hoo Roo

P.S. The sweetest of them all..the Special Edition Red Micarta handled Loveless Drop Point Hunter ..the forerunner to the Pro1....puuurrre classs, followed extremely closely by the Schrade D'Holder SDH1......what say you Del are you there mate? Hoo Roo

I think I know what Dels favourite knife is????? Its always on the top left hand left hand corner of his posts. What a knife?? Del ??

As a newer collector, I think this one is my oldest:

And this one is fast becoming my favorite because of the wood handle. I wish I had a better array to show you but I'm just starting out.

Tim, the Smith & Wesson Bowie and the Schrade Bowie are not the same knife even though they are somewhat similar. I could be wrong, but my recollection is that the S&W knife was actually made by S&W back when they were still in the knife business. Look at the photos carefully, the real Schrade is on top:
