I'm the opposite. I currently have 3 fixed blades for each folder I own. To put that in perspective, I own 2 folders currently. And one of them is a Gerber Paraframe (*gasp*).
I'm looking for a few folders though, but I don't find them near as interesting as fixed blades personally. At least not yet .
I've not bought a fixed blade in a good many years. I look at them and salivate. But I don't hunt anymore (health issues). And if I need SD, I have guns. So it's hard for me to justify buying a new fixed blade.
Before I started making knives it was about 2:1 fixed to folders. I love fixed blades. Now it is closer to 5:1 fixed to folders. I want to keep most all that I make, but wife wont let me. Soon I am going to start making folders so those numbers my change.
I'm down to 2 fixed blades and a dozen folders. I can't really carry fixed (draconic California laws that make fixed blades not worn fully open-carry a felony "concealed weapon"), so they're not high on my priority list.
I would guess that I have around 4 or 5 fixed blade knives for every 1 pocket knife. Strange, especially since I carry and use a folding blade everyday, and only occasionally get to carry and use my fixed blades
Wow, I'm with bfnewbie, along the lines of 20:1. Last time I bought a fixed blade was a cute little Krein. After putting a fixed blade into each of my bailout bags, I was done. But one day I'll move away from NY and carry fixed blades...
