What is your go to sharpening for Delta 3v?

Diamond Stone, white Arkansas stone, one micron diamond loaded strop

All of my stones are quite large and allow me to get quite a bit of work done with minimal strokes. This is the key to getting the job done fast. I do not understand the existence of four and six inch stones. 8 is barely adequate. I like 10" and up.

For whatever reason, I expected a whole bunch more variation in answers than I have seen so far. For me, a good sharpening utilizes a diamond stone followed by a ceramic hone followed by a leather strop loaded with 1 micron diamond emulsion spray. Most of the time, however, the loaded strop alone maintains sharpness.

I use a Wicked Edge to sharpen. I use a diamond plate for touch ups or to hone. My hand sharpening skills are fine to put a usable edge on but overall I probably do more damage (uneven bevels) which requires more time on the wicked edge to get back to even.
I need to get larger stones for my hand sharpening. But so little money, so many CPKs to buy.

I use a TSPROF K03 Pro Hunter sharpening system. I use diamond stones as needed. But I hand-made some leather strops to work with that system. I have four strops loaded with finer and finer buffing compounds. By the time I'm done sharpening, I have a mirror polish on my blade. Sharpening is a peaceful and calming hobby for me. Plus, I don't accept anything less than shaving sharp😅

Is there a diamond stone you recommend for someone with knife blades 12” and under?

I used to go through the water stones then stropView attachment 2016193

Now I use the rough and buff method, which I think creates a better cutting edge than mirror polish, just doesn’t look as nice

I use a Falkniven ceramic stone followed by a leather wheel on a low speed drill, I highly recommend the stone, not the drill, it’s only for the laziest of the sharpeners out there.

Like most things in life, especially amongst aficionados, we tend to make things much more complicated than necessary.

Simplicity rules.

Brain surgery a la CPK:

Crack noggin' a good one. (Your choice of pattern. Spine side recommended.)

Scoop or spoon out goopy stuff inside.

Attach duct tape to outside of wound.

Voila!

Well way back long ago, holes were knocked into the skull to let ‘evil spirits out’ of people when acting up (worked at times when there was swelling causing the change). Burr holes are done with a drill now but same principle.

Maybe a D3V trepanning tool for the really hard headed people….🤪
