Do you guys have big dollar collections, or you don't really track it then one day you realize, wow its big collection...

Myself its a small collection a Buck 110, I was lucky to order a Dumpster Mutt LE, and I have some other small knifes, under $30 each, and some SRM Chinese knives...so maybe 250USD or so for me...

BUT I see some of the the Busse guys collection, wow it must be in the tens of thousands of dollars...some of you guys have lots of knives for sure...

Sorry if its rude to ask...thanks to all.

i think some of us dont want to think about that number too much. might inhibit our next purchase...... lol

I stopped counting as soon as I hit 4 digits...>.>;;

I don't know about the money, but the size of my "accumulation" keeps surprising me... I need to sell some stuff... badly... :o

My collection is priceless to me. It would take me awhile to put a monetary value on it.

Many thousands of dollars. It would probably make me sick to tally it up, honestly. 10,000 would be a conservative estimate.

I was out of work for a while and sold most of it at half price for quick cash. Right now, I think I own 7 knives, all in the 70 - 200 price range. I'm guessing about $800 -- but if I needed to sell them they'd be priced considerably less than that.

Not that bad for me.... $2500ish with my current collection. I try not to let my "collection" get too big, so if I'm buying knives I'm selling knives.

Just added it all up roughly, including axes/machetes (Grans Fors, Wetterlings, Condor etc) and multi tools (Victorinox, leatherman) its around $3950 :barf::eek: (I would have just guessed about $1000 if I hadn't just added it all up) As for value I'd add another $1000 because 75% of my folders are sprint runs some highly sought after ones (m4/titanium Military, S90V Para 2, etc). I think Bada and Crimson were right, I shouldn't have tallied it up. :barf: Hopefully my Girlfriend never reads this post.

Not a bad question (and good to consider once in a while :D ), but the real value in a collection, to me, is the thought put into each acquisition and its subsequent use. A $1K knife is not worth anything to me if it just sits in the safe.

I just started not to long ago, I'd say around $350, I know some people have single knives that cost that much. But like firearms, i've been bit buy the bug. I've got my eye on some big boys now :)

In the vicinity of $1000. But it is still growing. I think think knife collecting will be a lifetime hobby for me, as I am attempting to buy 1 fixed blade and 1 folder from each major knife brand in the world...yep...gonna be a lifetime...

Mine's pricesless. There are a few items in my collection that couldn't ever have a value put on them because I guarantee you they won't every be sold:D

As far as the stuff I have that may someday belong to someone else?.....I don't want to know how much I've got invested, because then I'd start thinking that I could have bought myself a new truck or something:)

The only knives I have of real value are my ZT's, which together are worth a little over $1000. The rest are just common CRKT, SAK, and Buck.

I'd say around 7 or 8 grand for my poking, slicing tools. Double that for firearms. thanks alot eh. :grumpy:

The only difference between men and boys are the price of their toys.

roughly a grand. large tanto sebenda, burger lexk, benchmade bedlam 860, benchmade 805 tsek m390. figure i spent 425 ish on the seb, 300 on the burger, 150 ish on the bedlam and tsek was a gift at roughly 200. plus ownership and use depreciation .... roughly a grand in dilapidation value. priceless in personalized value

Every knife I buy I register in a spreadsheet, have done it for years. I have been buying knives since before then so there is no accurate data for my entire life, but the data collected includes price, and the sum total of the REGISTERED ones comes to just over $12000. Add the unknown bit and it comes to an amount that would be embarassing if I didn't simply enjoy my hobby and can afford it.
But. I could buy a very nice new motorcycle for that.

A quick notepad write up of my various collections and sub collections equaled out to 95 knives that are worth mentioning.
The total conservative value (meaning not inflated due to ego and being able to admit that I may have overpayed for some, and i can sell all of them off quick for at least this amount even in a bad economy) is a whopping $8,500.
Now due to self preservation i will never keep a "ledger" on how much i actually spent on individual knives, even though a rough estimate may be stored in the back of my head.
I find it better to go by the rule that I usually look for undervalued deals and do not buy the newest shinyest latest thing on an impulse. This keeps me ahead of the game and its safe to say i most likely didn't spend anywhere near $8,500 total.
