What is your most useful knife?

I have to say for me it's the Spyderco Tenacious. The full flat grind
blade just makes it useful for my cutting tasks. Especially with peeling
and dicing up vegetables and fruits.

I love my other blades, but I find that for food anything other than a
full flat grind is tough to use and food is my main practical use in the
house (I lack a proper paring knife [ok, I just like to use my knives :)].

Well, I'm really just entering the knife-collecting world. I plan on picking up a Spyderco H1 Ladybug as my EDC. Right now, my Victorinox Cadet is my EDC knife. :p

Stupid question: How do you maintain your Tenacious if you use it for cutting food? In other words, do you put Tuf Glide or anything on the blade?

Torn between my Small Sebbie which I have on me now and very often and my spyderco mili which see's similar pocket time. Flat ground blade on the mili makes it a fantastic slicer coupled with the light weight for the size makes a great edc. I like the sebbie on how sheeple friendly it is and how simple and compact. Both are probably tied for most used as I carry my mili more often when I am camping.

I have a matched pair (with a double sheath, even) of the Gerber Freeman fixed blade and caping knife in stag and S30V. And, while I'd like to say the bigger 3-1/2" knife gets more use, that would be a fib - the little caping knife gets used a whole lot more often. They're both great knives, though.

The most USE: SAK Classic on my keychain. I actually get more use out of the scissors, toothpick & tweezers.

The most USEFUL: Any one of my Boy Scout knives, or a TL-29. On a given day, I'll carry any one of several patterns, but the ones I carry when I know I'll have cutting and mechanical work to do is either one of my Scout knives or my TL-29.

thx - cpr

To date:

Used most often: Fallkniven P/3G folder (EDC)
Most useful: Fallkniven A2

for me it's my EDC Spyderco Caly3 Carbon Fiber ZDP-189. Since I bought it I can't put it down. It's the perfect slim size for pocket carry, wire-clip and I am simply AMAZED by ZDP. The razor sharp edge has lasted 2-3 times longer than my other VG-10 blades. I just take it to my leather strop with a small amount of compound to keep the edge.

My most useful and most used knife is my Strider DGG SnG spear point. It is the perfect size for carry, sharper than hell and an excellent cutter, plus strong enough to use for light prying.

Good question! Although I have a drawer full of nice knives, I EDC a modest SAK Classic and a Ladybug 3.

However, the most useful is probably our forged Murray Carter Funayuki kitchen knife. It gets absurdly sharp, has a beautiful thin edge geometry, and is light and balanced in the hand. It is a pleasure to use every day, sometimes for all three meals.

Tossup between SAK Climber, Farmer, or Huntsman. Hands down the most useful, but I readily admit because of the non-knife functions.

+1

Other than that, my most useful knives would have to be my Leeks. (I have 2 with slightly different scales, I generally carry whichever works better with whatever I'm wearing.) Packaging doesn't stand a chance.

Can't be that stupid of a question if I don't have a good answer :D

I admit when it comes to maintenance I am not the best with my
knives, thought most of them get minimal use.

For the Tenacious I just wash it under the sink with some dish washing
detergent. The steal is not the most resistant to rust, but I found that
as long as you dry it quickly after use and don't close it until totally
dry it is fine. For the pivot point I just spray some WD40 in there. Like
I said, I'm not the best with maintenance.

The most used one would be one of my Victorinox knives (Climber or Huntsman), for more serious cutting I use Fällkniven F1 55% of the times and my Bradley Alias 1 40%. For really heavy tasks I use Fehrman FJ although I am about to use my Busses more.

Probably my Benchmade 520. Bombproof aluminum handles, easy to maintain 154CM blade. Its a true work horse

Most useful would definately be my Spyderco Military. It is a great cutter, and very comfortable - I carry it quite a bit.
