What is your New Year's Knife Resolution for 2022?

For me, I resolve to buy less knives and focus instead on just getting a few higher quality premium production and custom blades. Other than the dozen or so knives that are on my existing list of buy when available or unless a company blows me away with a new release, that's the plan going forward.

The correct wording is fewer knives, not less.
I resolve to stop pointing out grammatical errors.

I resolve to find the patience to take the fit and finish of knives I make to the next level.

Yes, I plan on slowing down and enjoying and using what I have.

I have only seen two new knives for 2022 so far that I just have to have:

The Bestech G10 Kasta and the Civivi Altus.

Well said! This is my M.O. as well

I'm going to thin the herd. I have a box of knives that need to go that I don't carry anymore. Since I hate venturing out in the cold and snow, I will wait until spring to do it.

I don’t know if I would call this a “resolution” but I’m going to start buying knives that I want right when I want them. I’m not going to delay and put it off only for it to become out of stock before I decide to pull the trigger. I’m going to buy it, use it and enjoy it.

I'm with the OP, to buy less knives (and stop picking on Richard -jk:)

I want to continue to acquire knives that I like and enjoy and not ones that I only get because I think they are rare, valuable or hard to find. I realize there may be some crossover with my strategy!

So the other day my neighbor gave me a small bar of 1095. Then, when I was visiting my Mom in Corpus Christi last week, she gave me a box full of nice of wood (and some stag) for knive handles that belonged to my Dad.

Since I was off this week, I decided to make a knife. Sketched out a blade, cut it out with a hacksaw and refined with files. Did the heat treat this morning and made handle. I have a first coat of poly on it. By tomorrow I'll have 3 more coats and then will take it back to the stones and put on a good edge.

Had so much fun that I've decided to make some more knives in 2022!

BTW this is what it looked like after I had cut in a rough primary bevel and before doing the heat treatment. It's meant to be something like Murray Carter's neck knife.

EDIT: Here is a pick of the mostly-finished knife. Still have a bit more polishing to do. I have no idea what kind of wood that is.
