Mine is a Ivory scaled, chisel ground, serrated, hawksbill in a leather pouch sheath. Give me Talonite and G-10!

mine is a knife approved and certified as ok or civilian use by the BATF.

that knife would have a 2 inch dull cutting surface, 12 inch bright orange handle, fingerprint ID system so only the proper user could access the knife, a 2 minute time delay before opening and a siren and flashing lights after opening to warn others of its use.

the knife would be endorced by ted kenedy as safe for civilian use and he would say "you dont need an assault knife to defend your family"

How about this one on ebay, I quote:

Mine is a remarkably dull Herbertz bowie knife. It has holes in the blade, sawteeth on the back, and a rat`s tail tang. To really top it off, this fantasy- style piece has a hefty skullcrusher to complement the somewhat crudely finished wooden handle.

The defendant pleads: "I bought it when I was younger, and I was temporarily insane when I made the purchase."

NILS

Fully serrated, black coated, tanto bowie made from over hardened 01 with an epoxy soaked silk wrapped handle and a leather pouch sheath.

It seems as if we all have different idea of what you mean by "nightmare" knife. I take it to mean the scariest looking knife you know of. If that is the case, I would have to say the spyderco civilian. I think that thing looks so damn scary.

blademan: it's not a hunting knife, as in 'I take this knife with me when hunting with my rifle'. It's a hunting knife as in 'I'm going to go and hunt something with with this-here knife - after I stab something, we can eat'

Like I stated in another thread, ANYTHING with a tanto blade and a chisel ground edge.

A knife with an aluminum handle and pinned construction and lock-back mechanism, or any other mechanism that wears terribly and loosens up after one hard use. Save yourself some money and just buy regular fishing sinkers, please!

Unfortunately, there's a heck of a lot of my nightmare knives out there.

Professor.

Tom,
You're welcome.

I think my ultimate nightmare blade would be a S&W 420J2, saber ground, fully serrated sheepsfoot blade featuring zytel handles with abalone inlays.

Mine would have to be any folder whose lock fails while I'm stabbing at something hard, closing on my fingers, chopping them all off.
