What is your "pet peeve" when it comes to knives?

People asking to use my knives and cutting themself after explaining how to use the knife and that it is very sharp. I just laugh, shake my head and hand them a bandaid.
God Bless

One of my hugest pet peeves when it comes to knives has to do with buying/selling/trading on the forums. Some guys are so upfront and forthcoming when it comes to disclosing everything about a knife. Other guys will swear up and down that a knife is pristine and then I get it with a chipped blade edge, scratched up blade and handles, and gunk absolutely everywhere. If you're going to trade or sell a knife I think you should have the courtesy to give it a bit of cleaning before you send it out. I usually offer to sharpen and clean any knives that I have used before shipping them out. Just tell the truth about what you're offering.!

Selling... I hate you lowballers. If I have a knife I'm selling for $200 and it's been on the forum for less than a day, why would I sell it for $125?!

When someone refers to my 3.45 inch blade as "the machete that you carry." My EDC has a smaller blade than most of the paring knives in their kitchen.

1. Poor edge geometry.
2. Knives that come from the factory/maker with a poor edge.
3. Blade play.
4. Knives designed to look cool rather than function.
5. People who don't carry knives, yet ask to use mine.

When I go to gun shows and look at the knife makers there, I am always bugged by the maker that takes an electric engraver and signs the mirror finish blade, full length.

Another thing that bugs me is the signs on their booths saying do not touch with out permission... and their also not very interested in talking to you... so I just walk by.

People who proudly collect Chinese made folders (rough riders to be exact) and have the gall to compare them to American companies that have been making knives for longer than they have been alive. It's Chinese crap, just because you have 50 of them does not make your collection better (or even equal to!) my 30 Case, Queen and Schrade knives. Support your Country!

When a company markets a knife as anything related to the US military, Iraq, or the "war on terror", like the Benchmade Infidel.

How in the world do you get play in a fixed blade? You have some really bad luck.

Sounds funny but I have had fixed blades with "blade play" where the blade gets a bit loose and wobbly in the handle.

Of course that USUALLY only happens with cheaper knives, especially ones with rubber handles, in my experience.

My biggest dislike is serrations. I personally think the only knife that deserves serrations is a bread knife. Serrations may work for someone who can't sharpen, but I have never came across a situation where I said " man I wish my edc had serrations."

Knives with a thesis paper written on them. I don't want to see the brand name, patent numbers, manufacturing dates, etc. all crapped up on the blade. Just keep it classy and sterile like Chris Reeve.

You nailed it. Although I don't mind seeing USA (small) if applicable.

And that it is your opinion which should be respected as long as you don't tell someone they shouldn't have serrations on their knife. And I carry at least one "Emergency Knife" that has partial serrations on it which is a Spyderco Endura 4 Wave, I don't use this knife for anything but emergencies aka cutting seat belts, animals caught in rope etc. I can't even state the times I have used the serrations on a knife. If they were useless Emerson knives wouldn't have them on them and Ernest Emerson himself wouldn't state always buy at least one knife with serrations on it. So yes I do have a good reason to have serrations.

pictures of folders half open...looking like the character in spy vs. spy. another, multitool guys telling me MTs are all I'll ever need.
