What is your prefered Fixed blade lengths????

Filleting fish? 6"-7"
Food prep? 4"-5"
Bait? 4"-5"
Bushwacking/Chopping? 14"-20" machete (although I don't use my 20" machete for chopping, only bush clearing, use my shorter and stiffer machetes/pangas for chopping)

4 inches is my ideal length for a fixed blade. Plenty of edge for my needs and short enough to control the tip easily. The only fixed blade I really carry is my bark river Canadian special.

13 inch when I'm outdoors for extended period of time. Kukri. :)
I usually have a 3.5 inch folder as well.
And then also a 5.5 or 7 just for self defense.
Doubt i need it but we have pictures of bobcats and cougars so the guy whose land we hunt on tells me to grab something besides a gun. Plus i welcome any situation where i have an excuse to carry multiple knives. :)

I like a blade in the 4-5.5 inch range for most tasks. Here is a Phil Wilson custom with a S110v blade @ 63 rc and black canvas micarta handle, toxic green and black pin stripe G-10 spacer, brass pins and stainless tube.

I am a big fan if his work. He grinds his blades the right way in terms of cutting ability and function. This one is .006" behind the edge and distal tapered to the tip.
