My primary chopping knives are mostly traditional. I still find nothing chops like the Khukuri or Parang. The BK2 makes a great companion when carrying a large knife is frowned upon as this little knife that packs so much cutting power can be kept discreetly in a pouch.

Cheers!

First. Axe....Second. hawk....Third. Knife. But I don't want to hump a crap load of gear most times. So in reality most often I carry a med. to large knife, which is a fun compromise.

Is it LOT easier to chop with a large knife like the Junglas or Bk9 compared to a bk2, or is it just a noticeable different but not drastic? From what I know the larger machete type knives are not very thick, so I'm curious how they stack up with thick/front heavy knives like the bk2.

if you can get some speed on a lighter tool, they can cope... but they're also sometimes too soft for the chop, and might deform.

also, deflections may occur, and other issues with a blade moving faster than you need to.... danger will robinson!

A Fiskars 14" hatchet and a Bahco folding saw generally do most of my wood processing when needed. I just sent Mark Wohlwend a deposit for one of his knatchets, and Id like to get a GB small forest axe, but it'll have to wait a little bit.

a coleman camp axe. It has been so bad though that i started using the Bk2 instead. I have to get a real hatchet or machete or something big to chop with.
