What is your source of knifemaking motivation?

I really like swords. Plain and simple, and being able to make them is one of the coolest things I have ever done and it gives me the ability to make them they way I like them.

The guy who my girl friend ran off with while I was in Viet Nam....

I believe the guy's name was Jody that ran off with your girl friend. We even sang about him when we went off marching. :D Jody's got your gal and gone, 1, 2, 3, 4. and so on.

As far as making knives go I find myself in the same boat as Don the Sun Fish. Knife making is something I just flat out enjoy! Great entertainment for the simple minded like myself.

I like making stuff, and knives are the first thing I've found that I can make AND make money at. More than that, I like that I can work on knives in discrete task units and then set aside for later while still feeling like I've accomplished something. Also, there's the challenge of learning new skills, making visible improvements, and pushing your own personal envelope. And I like well made stuff, and satisfied/excited customers.
