No, not your chopper, small fixed blade and a pocket knife. What is your camping setup for sleeping if broken down into ground pad, sleeping bag, blanket or quilt and shelter?

Here are a few of mine.

Mine...
Pad: blue foam from walmart (I plan to get one of those really small Therm a rest)
Bag: REI synthetic 35
Tent: Sierra Designs Clip FlashlightCD 2

pad: mid size thermarest
sleeping bag (i think it's northface) cat's meow 20
tent: the same beat up red tarp I've used for the past 5 years....(although I've been thinking sil nylon lately)

Primitive
same setup but with a natural shelter either a lean-to (all natural) or a debris hut

I know the therma rest and sleeping bag are not really primitive, but my backs got a lotta miles on it...

Haven't done this yet, hope to try it out. Prolly be a lean-to or A-frame something with a leafy bed.

Can't say that I have a trio, but whenever I go camping or on a surf trip or anywhere that my wife wants to steal something warm, my Kirafu woobie is with me.

when Im camping on my own , I maybe take a blanket , and sleep on the ground , if its cold I light a fire and wrap up in the blanket

when I have a car but Im on my own , I take a swag , canvas ground sheet with a light mattress / pad and a blanket or two wrapped up in a bundle

when I take the missus , we take a tent , mattress , sleeping bags , pillows doonas car and trailer ..... have car will pack bulky :)

havent got a trio tho ....

learning to lay on concrete and be comfortable is a good skill , IMHO , even if it sounds weird , it means that sleeping on the ground is easy to do with no sleeping pad or even having to dig a hip hollow

Normal camping:
Pad: None. Wheere I camp there's so much groundclutter such as leaves and such, I just make a nice pile and lay down on it.
Bag: USGI MSS patrol bag and bivy sack
Shelter: Equinox 10'x12' tarp.

Cold weather (below freezing) camping:
Pad: None. Wheere I camp there's so much groundclutter such as leaves and such, I just make a nice pile and lay down on it.
Bag: I'll add the Intermidiate bag to the one above
Shelter: GI pup tent (surprising how warm they can be).

Cold weather, Scamper crank-up Pick camper

Cabelas heavy duty army cot with self inflation pad

Kevin,

Pad: Thermarest Ultra-Lite
Sleeping Bag: Woods of Canada Northern Lite 1800
Tent: Eureka Tetragon 5

Usually use these year round other than the bag. Summer or warmer weather I use a GI Poncho Liner.

Depends on the season and duration. My longest trips are generally not backpacking, and take place in the summer. I have an old Coleman bag circa ~1970-75 that I "liberated" from my mother. In winter, its another Coleman, but a mummy type. I'm looking at replacing it soon though; the fill is terribly bunched. Either way, I also take a foam sleeping pad, and a stuff sack to fill up with clothes for a pillow.

Therm-a-rest RidgeRest mat

Buffalo sleeping bag

Coleman 3 season tunnel tent

I don't hike so my setup is fairly heavy compared to many posted here.

My sleeping pad is a foam self-inflating, but slightly wider and thicker than a thermarest and seriously comfortable. I often put one of the generic blue foam pads under it as well.

Sleeping bag is a Roman rated to -5, which I find ideal for most of the year. I also have a heavier bag for winter or Alpine trips.

Tent is a tunnel tent which I've had for about 15 years. Not sure what brand it is, but its held up really well, including in some torrential rains and howling gales.
