What is your ultimate fixed blade - combat to field prep...?

I have made several recent inquiries about when the new EB series will be coming out in S30V…and while I may still opt of one of them, I have hatched this new idea…

I am thinking of ordering a custom flat-ground S30V EB-LS with HT-style spine serrations, but no top-edge (well, maybe a false-edge) - easier to choke-up on & rest my index finger on when field-dressing deer and such. I also want an aluminum oxide or satin (no TS) finish and one of the standard SOE pouch sheaths.

I have a CRK Project II now in an SOE sheath that I trust and love to use...however, I want a little (4-5" bladed) brother for it. Here's a pic. of it after a re-finish and when the sheath was new (click here). It and I have been through a few ordeals...so while I want a strider fixed blade, I will not soon be parting with my P-II.

So, why the options I have listed? Well, the EB series are as bombproof as knives can be. Further, I like the properties that G-10 offers in a handle...especially the fire & chemical resistance and the ability to clean up nicely after having been used to clean fish & game. The satin / al oxide finish is just 'cuz I like it. ;) The spine serrations are for rope and the reason for the no false-edge has been explained. Finally, I have come to the habit of carrying a LM Wave in the pouch of my P-II's sheath as well as some fire-starting gear & a diamond rod in its handle...so I want another SOE sheath to allow me to carry another multi-tool with my EB and perhaps see if I can get one made with a small divider in the backside of the pouch for a spark-lite or diamond rod to sit along side/behind my Wave.

Anyway, that's my ideal set-up (right now)...

LOL...you know, as proof that Mick & Duane really know what they are doing, I think that upon even further musing and reflection...I actually like the EBL-S just the way (shape) it is...with only the added "extras" of S30V, satin finish, and an SOE sheath. The more I thought of the serrations, the more I thought they'd be unnecessary (for me) - as I would have the saw & serrated blade of my LM Wave handy if I wanted to cut some fiberous materials... Anyway, I guess my new argument for the ideal combat/backpacking/everything-under-the-sun (save for CC) is the EBL-S. That being said, if anything, a G-10 handled HT would be very interesting... :)

We have made a few G10 HT's. Its a cool knife.
You will really like the EBLS.
The serrations don't work well on rope.

Thanks for your interest

Mick
