What it is about ALOX SAKs?

I like the alox SAKs for all the reasons already mentioned, but I do find them to be just a tad too slippery.

I have an unhealthy collection of SAKs and truth be told, I like the ALOX ones the best. Sure, they don't have the toothpick or tweezers but who cares? They feel like tanks. For some reason, they feel so much more solid then a cellidor SAK. It's a huge difference. ALOX SAKs are meant to last a lifetime. I have around 20 or so ALOX SAKs and my favorite is either the Blue Farmer or the Silver Pioneer Rancher. Why do you like ALOX SAKs?

I had been hearing so much about them here, that I just had to get one. I agree they feel great, rock solid. I'll tell you though, it was tough for me to give up the Phillips screw driver, it's a part of my being.
I do love my new blue farmer, smooth bottom is nice, but will take some getting used too.

I too just got a farmer, but it's too hard to bump the soldier. The farmer might get camping/gardening duty. The Soldier is the soul of victorinox.

That blue Farmer is really nice! I currently have a few red alox models (Pioneer, Pioneer Rancher and Cadet), a black Pioneer and a green Cadet.

Bought an alox farmer based on this thread.

Really really like it.... though I usually dont carry stainless.

Carbon multi tools would be the bees knees imo.

The end of the can opener works phenomenally as a philips head screwdriver. I would go as far as saying that it works just as well as the in line ones next to the magnifying glass or flashlight as well. It's not meant to be used for super heavy duty stuff but for light/medium duty loosening/tightening of philips screws it works perfectly!

Yup, big fan of Alox here. Have a dozen or so, the only one I don't like is the Alox Classic, too light and flimsy feeling.

I really have a thing for the pruner blade(small sickle shaped blade) on the Harvester and Rancher, opens up packages and mail great and is really useful for cutting out deep splinters and not surprisingly harvesting.

Match up these knives with a Manager and I feel that I have fulfilling EDC :).

I've never collected anything until now and have started to seek Alox in different colours.

There's no tool on the alox Pioneer/Wenger SI that I don't use. I can't say that for other SAKs/MTs.

I got my blue alox Farmer today and all I can say is WOW! :D

It looks every bit as good "in person" as in the pics posted above! If you're on the fence on one of these, get it! You won't regret it! ;)

first alox SAK was a '93 Vic Soldier, now I have 33 alox SAKs...I guess I like them too

i may be repeating the same message here about the incredible qualities of the alox, but i don't think anyone would dispute the fact that it's more economical to own an alox in the long run.
admittedly, those alox scales are rock solid and just plain indestructible.
cosmetically speaking, i find the plain uncolored alox the most presentable of the lot, as there is no finishing so to speak to wear away in the long run.
and to top it off, the blade tools are far sturdier than regular SAKs thank's largely to it's slightly thicker stock.
the only thing that would possibly ruin a personal favorite alox is for an irresponsible someone to illegally walk away with it.
