What Kershaw folder is this and will Kershaw fix it?

...in regards to the stropping on concrete, yeah I need to teach him how to freehand or at least use my EdgePro.

They probably made it out of the extra parts from the Green and Blue Ti bumps, so its hard to pin point the number.. Like the 1597GRY was made of out left over parts from other limited runs...Hence its even more rare since they are probably a couple hundred then a thousand or so..

It's been a long time but I think it was Dave/Kershaw Guy who told me the Grey bumps were run for one customer that ended up not completing the purchase and they were never offered to regular dealers either. And his guess were probably only a couple hundred were produced.

Man, that is a shame to see a grey Ti Bump in that condition....but on the other hand knives are meant to be used. I'm feeling conflicted!!

Hope you get a lot more years of use out of that one!

Such a beautiful knife, it's cool to see it's been out in the "wild" and used as it was created to. That has to get someone's attention a million times quicker than a box cutter or plastic chinese piece.

I see no reason why Kershaw would not send you a new stop pin. They send out other parts (i.e. torsion bars) that require dis-assembly by the user. If you have vertical play it is probably either the frame lock or the frame itself. Look at the movement of the stop pin. If it moves or tilts to one side then the pin may be broken in the frame. If the whole pin moves then the frame holes that seat the pin may be deformed. This could also be the case even if the pin only moves on one side. Look at the lock bar on the frame. If it is fully engaged and worn to the point where it is not making contact with the blade this will cause vertical play also. In any case it is easy to take apart and check for problems. If the problem is with the frame the only thing Kershaw can do is replace it if they have any spare Ti Bump parts available which is doubtful for the Grey ones. Either way it is one of the best models Kershaw has ever produced.

Whoever had that knife certainly did not make it a safe queen! I believe Kershaw will bring it back to life because it has a lot of use left in the blade. In the future, it just needs to be cleaned and lubed.
