What kind of a plane is this?

Any of you guys ever get to see an 'Angel of Death':eek::thumbup:

Only in Wikipedia (or as we used to say, "only in the funny papers").

Be lucky you jumped out. Sitting in a jump seat while landing is not pleasent AT ALL!

Try it flying LAPES missions into firebases in the central highlands. Combat approaches and climbouts while taking SA fire really wakes you up......and that sharp gain in elevation when the pallet clears....Oh yeah!!

Mail Call: LAPES

We were also based with the early AC-130A Spectres of the 16th SOS.

Their AC-130U descendents are still raising hell.....

Spooky, Puff, or Spectre they all earned the respect of anyone on the ground.

I always liked watching the vehicles go flying out on LAPES drops....those rails get awefully hot...no touchy. The vehicles go from a dead stop to gone in the blink of an eye. Of course we needed the AF guys to tell us dumb ARMY guys to not touch the hot metal. :p

The AC-130s are really something to behold on the ground and at night. When they start in on a target and you see those dancing red lines and hear that low pitched humm.....it gives you that warm fuzzy feeling inside.

It's a free service we provide. :D

Besides we need you fully CC to handle the hot metal flying around on the ground.
