Crappy pics, sorry. Guy says "make me an offer." Trying to figure out what's reasonable. Weight is 65 pounds. He didn't describe any markings.

did you do a drop test with ball bearing to see how "live" it is?
if good chime and bounce, I'd start at $50.

No chance to test it. Pics are all I've got. I'd guess that the face plate is hard steel?

it looks to be a cast body with a steel face but its hard to tell from the pics. it could just be pitting, not casting marks. if it has holes in the front and back of the body its likely forged. forged is generally a better anvil but some makers do make a very good cast steel body with welded steel face anvil. if you can get it a good deal on it and money isnt too tight, id say go for it. a dead anvil can produce just as good work as a live one, its just not as enjoyable for the one holding the hammer. good luck.

I agree that it looks like a steel faced anvil. Might be quite nice as a small forging anvil. I have one almost the same as that one, it weighs 70#. If the price is less than $100, I say go for it. Start at $65.

I threw out a low ball at $50. He said 125, but the tongs come with. He said that there is a mark on it somewhere, but he's out of town and his wife couldn't find it. Depending on the mark, I may have to pick this one up. Not too many spare anvils in these parts.
