What kind of collector are you?

I prefer hard-use-heavy-thick folders, but I am known to enjoy slipjoints and Victorinox.
The way I see it, my Adamas will cut the same things as a Case Peanut, but the Peanut cant cut what my Adamas can.

I'm slowly becoming a homeless, carless, female companionless knife collector. Oh well. Cue the RHCP "Under the bridge" music.

Oh and just for y'all's info, I have to pee.

almost everything i collect are new old stock knives that are not made anymore , and a lot from companies that do not exist anymore - these knives i do not use , unless i have two or more of the same one (i have four and five of some) - the knives i do use the most are still in production , common knives - i buy nice new old stock knives all the way down to cheap but uncommon knives, but always in new condition - i do not buy custom knives , as i do not have , nor would i spend that much money on one knife - but i do also have quite a few users - almost all of my knives are traditionals , although i do have some modern one hand openers - marc

I'm a knife user, and do buy some knifes that probably won't see any use.

For user knifes, ones that will get heavy use, maybe broke(knife pressed into a tool it wasn't designed for), or wore out(meant usually misplaced or just lost), I like to buy a handful of ZT, Benchmade, and spyderco's every year. I have many older Spyderco's, not worth much today due to heavy use and knifes are much more modern now a days.

Users I buy now, I stay away from common steels, and try to buy the latest hotness, 20cp, s90v, s110v, 204p, M390 etc. BM, Spydie, and MT, keep the small runs of Premium steel coming!!

I collect a few knifes, these are designs I like, with premium steel, and I like carbon fiber. Strider, Microtech(I know their story, but like some models), and ZT.

Custom's, maybe one a year. F3 this year, maybe a Russian 95 next year(SWEET).

After all the knifes bought over the years, and seeing a toolbox full of older knifes that have no value, it's time to spend a little more up front, but collecting I don't do for investment, it's just a collection. Our local Boy scout troop I give knifes to every year, at least until they no longer allow them, lol

During my Scout and Army years, I collected many sweet fixed blades, when off to school, younger brother had a hay day with them, and knifes left out, Mom put in the trash, NUTS. I wish I had them all back, along with the old buck and case folders, many passed down from Grandpa :(
