What kind of handles are these?

Check! I thought it looked familiar! :D

When Mike posted the photo above...it was love at first sight;). It took me about a year to find a matching one:D.

In the March 08 issue of the BCCI news letter; Larry Oden has an article "Put Up Some Dukes". In the article he states that Bass Pro Shops commissioned two different series. Series 1 was 500, 501, 503, 505, 703, 705 and 709, these were honey worm grooved bone. Series 2 was 500, 501, 503, 505, 110, and 112, these were Asian water buffalo jigged to resemble Impala horn. So What does this all mean?????

I'd say the knives Mike, ITE, and I have posted are what Richard said...honey dyed bone jigged to look like Impala horn. It would be nice to get a full set...but, these don't show up very often.

I seem to recall that the club also offerred the 500 and 110 in honey worm grooved bone as members only fundraiser knives a year or two ago as well, did they not??

BCCI fundraiser knife 2004. Honey worm grooved bone with S30V. Loves those fundraiser 110s.

These were supposed to be produced with NS but most members received brass instead. If I recall correctly, 210 were produced.

I have the 110s in honey impala and wormy(in brass and N/S) jig bone but no camera to show you. By the way I had Leroy make up a set of Bucklocks (531, 532 &535) in honey wormy jig bone and they are killer. Sorry about the camera issue.

Here's the same knife with nickle silver bolsters. The knife was inadvertantly issued with the wrong bolsters. Some BCCI members complained so Buck made a second batch with the correct bolsters. I can't remember which ones came first.

The knife was originally "advertised" with nickel silver, but was incorrectly manufactured initially with brass.

Some people would complain if you gave the a $100.00 bill with a slight tear...

I finally tracked these down in the BCCI stuff and says that 125 were made. Unfortunately, doesn't say how many were brass and how many were NS. But then it also calls them Honey Jigged Bone, where the 2004 BCCI newsletter calls them Honey Worm Grooved Bone.

Both the NS and Brass have the same cat numbers on the barcode. So that doesn't help tracking. The NS has a 10/01/04 date on the box, and the Brass has 12/08/04 on the box. Cat# is 33753 09900 on both boxes. B110-SP79-0 on both boxes.

I found the cat reference in the 2005 list instead of the 2004. And I am looking at the Fall 2004 newsletter.
Interesting that the pic in the newsletter appears to show the rear bolster grooved like the scales. Must have been a reflection because they aren't.

I suspect that the quantity stated in the BCCI doc is not accurate.

The perpendicular style jigged pattern on them is something you see a lot on ram (or buffalo) horn handles, so maybe that's the confusing part?--Honey colored bone jigged to appear to be ram horn?

I with Tony A; Honey colored bone jigged to appear to be ram horn.

Joe,

Are these aftermarket customs or are they 100% Buck?

So does anyone have a 110 or 112 that is Honey dyed Bone Jigged that looks like Impala Horn, thats part of the set... If so any pics? :D

I'm with you ITE,

I'd like to see what the 110/112 look like. Heck until now I had only got to see what the 500 version looked like. I'd like to any of the knives from this series.

John
