What kind of knife did your father use?

My dad always carried a stock knife of some sort. For as long as I can remember it was a craftsmen, identical to the one I got as my first knife for christmas one year. Then a couple years ago I gave him a couple trapper patterns I made from kits when I was just getting started with knifemaking. So he's got a large (4") and small (3.25") matching pair that he switches back and forth with depending on what he's doing. The large one has held up well cause I had a better idea what I was doing when I made it. The small is probably going to need new scales someday if not replaced completely.

My dad carried a three bladed buck stockmen for as long as I can remember. About 4 years ago I gave him a SAK soldier and he has had 2-3 of them since then.
My dad has always gone through knives quickly, but the SAK's have lasted much longer. He is a general contractor and feals that a knife should be used.

As far as I can recall, my late father had no knives but my maternal grandfather did. He was a hunter in his free time. A couple of years ago, my aunt gave me what was left of his pen knife.

It did look like it had seen better days. Nevertheless I cleaned it up as much as I could and kept it aside as a memento that had served my grand-pappy well. It was one of those chromium-plated handled Tokapi blades.

Back in the 30s, it must have been a popular model.

Mine carried a Case 6347 Stockman, everyday right up until he passed away in 1977, it literally had to be removed from his pocket after he died at 43 of a heart attack. He also had a Queen Trapper that he used to skin sheep and cattle on our farm and game he shot.

He also had a Camillus Electrician's knife that he used at work for GTE, and may have been issued to him in the Air Force in the early 50's since he was a radio operator for the A.F., I have been able to verify that this was the knife issued to service men who did his job at the time, but not that this was his actual issue knife.

I recently took these and Case Stockmen belonging to both Great-Grandfather's, as well as a Boker Boy Scout knife belonging to my Grandfather and put them all in a shadow box display together.

My used lots of different knives, but the one he always had on him was an Old Timer. After he died Mom gave it to me. He's been dead almost 20 years, but I still have it.

Well I don't have very many keepsakes from my deceased father....he passes away when I was 4..I do own two knives.
I am not sure if this was my fathers but I was told it was, it is a Buck looks like a 303v USA stamped on the blade.
Does anyone here have any knowledge of this knife?
Any help would be appreciated.
The other is a very beat up Std Issue Wenger......a few years ago I bought a daily user myself.

My father used to carry a folding produce knife. Those are single bladed slip joints with a slender stainless spearpoint blade about 4-5 inches long. I still love those knives.

Nice to hear from another Winnipeger!

Winter's finally on its way out (though might snow tonight). Time to start sharpening up my hunting blades, to get ready to skin some mosquitoes! :)

My experience is eerily similar to Collucci's. My Dad used to carry linesman's knife when he worked with telecom cabling, some of them from Klien, some homemade from an old steak knife ground on the bench grinder into a short sheepsfoot. When he was riding, he of course had the standard issue Buck 110 in a sheath I made for him as a kid. For a while he had one of those nifty "magic" knives, that close by a special trick. (I remember the times I would open it and mess with it, then frantically try to get it closed when I heard him coming!) Now he carries the Buck Lightning I gave him and the Bucktool I gave him.
