What kind of knives did you prefer before you found khukuris?

I kinda started on the Cold Steel stuff, but since then I've dispensed with most of my Cold Steel knives, except my SRK, and a light Ghurka Khukuri. I actually got started into HI stuff when I desired to add a short sword-like khukuri into my collection, as I was now into swords. I tried the HI King Kobra, but found it rather too heavy to use, so I sent it back and requested a 22" Kobra, made by Bura, wood handle, new 5160 steel.

I got exactly what I ordered, and since then I've been on the lookout for the next Khukuri to add to my 'short sword' collection. Mebbe I'll get a Gelbu Special, with silver mounts. Of course, I'm still buying swords and there is no end in sight! I have a persian-style shamshir on the way (made by Armart), and the last Gladius Hispaniensis that Albion Armorers had in stock (which is significant since it has an Atrim blade, and Albion Armorers is discontinuing the Atrim line).

Interesting knives, Mohd, and thanks for link. I wonder why they named that knife a "chili pounder?"

Hi Uncle, I went to that site and was reading a bit it said they were named that because of the shape of the ( not sure here) (a) Handle (b) sheath. Thats all I know! Talk to ya later.
