What kind of saw for my psk?

Just found the name of the saw. Saber Cut Survival Saw. And a link that reviews several. I tell you this thing blasts through wood like a beaver on meth.

And disregard the size of the case the Saber Cut comes in. Mine had no case but it packs down to 3" X 3". I keep mine in a little black ALICE pouch for compasses.

I have a pocket chainsaw, but I need to use it more before I can endorse it. I have the tin version with the metal rings. I'm not diggin' the metal rings so much. I think I'll affix some paracord loops and see if it goes better that way.

I have one of these in my car kit. It's nothing you'd want to use for building a cabin or anything, but it will out cut my Leatherman and OH Trekker any day. It is lightweight, it has an easily stowed profile, and it cost me $8 at Menard's. Oh, and it cuts good.

I carried a Gerber for over 10 years, and it never failed me. I sent it to my buddy in Iraq as he is a sniper and thought he could use it, it was super light and cut well, I finally got myself another saw about 2 weeks ago, I bought it at Home Crappo...its made by Corona, from Korea...its super light for its size, and it has a rubber coated curved handle thats sweet, it cuts so fast through 3-4" pine in a matter of seconds...not my old Gerber, but it will do until I get mine back.

For me a SAK or multitool with a saw is a must or the outdoors! I usually carry a Vic Hiker, Farmer (Alox scales), Hunter (111mm w/locking main blade combo tool, saw & non locking small gutting blade) or Spirit multitool. For stashing away in kits or as a backup, the discontinued Vic Lumberjack (84mm 2 layers: knife and combo tool on one and the saw on the other) is great….I only wish Vic would start making these again!

I find that the SAK saws cut faster than I can chop with a 5” or even a 7” blade knife.

For more capability than the SAK saws, next step for me is the SOG Revolver. (Hey Robbie!).

After that, it is one of the Finnish made Fiskars/Gerber saws with the retractable blade, like in hikeeba's photo.

I have personally avoided the pocket chain saws for PSKs because you need two hands to use them.

Add the paracord and use sticks as handles like a lawn mower pull cord.

If you are looking for a good saw, try Bahco. Might be too big for your PSK, but it's a good one for a BOB or Vehicle kit.

I am moving in the Gerber folding saw direction. It is $16 with a sheath and replaceable blades. That can't be beat. This would be in a back pack.

For me though, a PSK means last ditch-emergency-always on my body. ALL saws as would be too large! I do carry a SAK fieldmaster and or leatherman supertool. For an emergency they would do well.
