What kind of shapening system for the field

No problem - I just carry a Dozier! For my friends I carry an EZ-Lap sharpener like troutfisher showes and a cheap aluminum oxide stone about 3 inches long.

I feel retarded when sharpening...Alot of the time I feel like I do more harm then good..can anyone reccomend instructions for idiots?

Riley, I think that many people have problems when they are sharpening a harder steel or using a very soft stone. Feel free to use some pressure on your knife, and be sure to keep the angle consistent. If you are using a diamond stone, it helps mentally because you KNOW you are taking away metal. Even w/ that, I have an old Buck that is very difficult to sharpen, and a benchmade that took quite a bit of work. The lanskys work well, but do not do that well on a knife w/ a lot of belly or a thick edge. Regardless, when the two sides of your knife meet at a proper angle, and do not have large sharpening scratches in them, they will be sharp. I think many spend a lot of time grinding on the shoulders, and though they do not realize it, never change the edge at all.
