I know that this has probably been done to death and if it has, I'm sorry. But as the subject says, I'm wondering what other forumites carry in their vehicle(s). To start things off, I have a Case knife that is a knock-off of a small LST and an SAK Soldier in the glove box. I also have an FRN/SE Endura and a Leatherman Super Tool in the outside pouches of a tool bag that sits behind the driver's seat in my '02 Ranger. As for the flashlight it is a Maglite (5-D)

I'll start off by saying that I don't carry much in my cars because I'm never really sure which I'll be in the mood to drive and I don't like swapping lots of stuff. Nor can I afford to buy multiples of items to have one of each in each car.

I always feel left out when one of these "car carry" threads are posted. ;)

Anything I need I carry on me or in a bag.

I have a leatherman wave in the glove box. I bought it as the set with a MagLight Micro. I also have a 3 cell MagLight in the trunk.

My EDC is also in the glove box most of the time. I use it for work, so i just leave it in there when I am not working. This way, no matter what I carry(don't want to pull out the AR in front of customers:eek: ), or if I don't(was in school), I have it ready. I am thinking of getting a dedicated car knife, but funds are tight right now. Maybe the vapor I have lying around, or a CRKT Ryan Model 7(I just need an excuse to buy another one;) ), but I would put micarta scales on it.

Workdays I drive the company truck, in which I keep a good basic set of tools that should take care of most problems. Up front I have:

a Greco Green River knife

a mini Maglite

an old original-style Leatherman

I'm planning to rotate the Greco with a CS Master Hunter and augment the mini mag with a 2D mag very soon.

No multitool cause none in the family knows enough to actually use a tool on the car.
A CRKT M16 is in the glove compartment (I know it's not secure for a crash, have been thinking of a way to safely store it. A mag light 4D right on the left side of the driver seat.

In the glove box: A SOG multi tool (a model they no longer make)

In my "portable desk" on the passenger seat: Benchmade Nimravus, a couple of spare .45 mags for my 1911, and assorted office supplies.

In the trunk: An emergency bag with a SOG Auto Clip, a Cold Steel Recon Tanto, a first aid kit, flares, Fix a Flat, electrical tape, a high power beacon, and assorted gadgets.

In the rear pocket of the passenger seat: A Maglite

In the driver's seat: An overworked travelling salesman, scanning the horizon for the next undiscovered knife store. :p geegee

I am a Federal Police Officer, and when it comes to flashlights, they are as every bit as important as my sidearm. Therefore, I only carry the best.

The light I choose to have on my dutybelt at all times is a Streamlight Stinger. They come usually as a kit, which includes a AC/DC charger, flashlight and battery stick. Price runs about $80.
and up. The battery can be recharged up to 1000 times, and is good for 90 minutes of use.

These lights are small enough to fit in your palm, but put out an incredible amount of light. Enough to damage your eyes if you look directly into one. They come in both aluminum and hi-tech plastic. Light beam is adjustable. These are definitely professional use lights, therefore the steep price.

Also, Mini-Mag lights are pure JUNK! I would not let any member of my family use one for any kind of emergency use. They are not to be taken seriously!! Regular-sized Mags light are okay.

All 3 of our vehicles have a Buck 119, a Pockitize w/ mini Maglight, SAK Tinker, Gerber multiplier.

Rayovac 2D Industrial (toolbox-I drive a truck)
Streamlight UltraStinger (cab)-sometimes have a regular Stinger in there, too.
GB small Forest Axe (behind seats)
I was keeping a Busse Basic 4 or Strider MFS between the seats, but have decided that I'd be better served all around with my Estwing crowbar and BM Nimravus/140S. A little Mondt GMC in CPM-10V is riding in the driver side door pocket, along with a Leatherman PST.

AMEN, Paratrooper!

Any knifeknut that has a flashlight should know that a mini-mag is the equivalent of a cheap chinese spyderco knockoff in the flashlight world.

The people who post on Bladeforums are fastidious and obsessive about their knives (I know I am!) and I am shocked to see that in this post, so many people mentioned mini mag lights as their flashlight EDC.

I guess I should direct anyone with more than a passing interest in flashlights to www.candlepowerforums.com and www.186thousand.com. You will be amazed to learn about people that are as obsessed with brands like Surefire, Arc,Inova, and Streamlight as Bladeforum members are with Tom Mayo, Chris Reeve and Bob Dozier!

All this time I thought there was a lot of crossover among this forum and the two mentioned above...I guess I overestimated.

Everyone, do yourselves a favor (if you are interested in flashlights) and go take a look...but hold onto your pocketbooks!

Since discovering those flashlight forums I have purchased 3 Arc AAA's (one is LE), and Inova X5T, a CMG infinity Ultra and a Surefire E2E...AND I am now eyeing the Surefire M3. I have a feeling my flashlight collection will soon rival my knife collection. As a matter of fact, I am considering selling off some knives to pay for the M3! (email me directly if you are interested in buying some near mint Benchmades, Bokers etc...just don't ask me to sell my Sebenza!)

Oh, and my (many) mini maglights? I have no idea where they are at this point, and I don't really care! I have an ARC AAA in my pocket at all times.

I have a Gerber EZ Out, white Inova X5, blue Stylus, mini mag, 3 cell mag, Turtlelite, and a Paratool. I think that's all for knives, multi tools and flashlights.

I like the mini mag for its size. It has enough staying power for the 15 minutes it takes to change a flat and has been used to many times to lite up a head lamp changeout in my semi. 90% of the time my vehicles are within 35 miles of home and the absolute most important item in the car is the cell phone and car charger.

Thanks to Paratrooper and Robenza I now have something else to spend my hard earned on!

I was sat quietly minding my own business this AM when I read this thread. A little searching on the 'net and within half an hour I was in the car. I now have an Inova X5 and the Mini Mag has been consigned to the glovebox - until I get another torch (flashlight) that is!

Once again thanks guys!:D

My wife asked me the other day if I had a flashlight in the car, I told her I did. Then I started counting, 3 surefires, 2 pelicans, 2 photons, a maglite, and a streamlight.

Among the tools and gadgets that stay in the car, spyderench, gerber multitool, glock field knife, glock entrenching tool, cold steel special forces shovel, leatherman micra, and an opinel #7.

In addition to that when I climb into the car I've usually got 2-4 knives on me.:)

Boy, it's a good thing that I don't live in the "flashlight world"!;) Actually, in my line of work (phone technician) I'm often up in attics or down in basements where the light is poor at best. Try working on a frame with one hand holding a full size flashlight sometime. I find the mini maglite to be perfect for holding between your teeth while you fiddle with cross connect. When they s#!t the bed I just toss 'em and buy a new one.

Don't venture into the flashlight world unless you want to find out that the Mini-Mag you've been using for all these years gives you less performance for its size than some other flashlights.

Without talking about $100 Surefires, there are some sub $40 lights that will provide very good light quality and runtime, compared to the Mini-Mags.

I saw the Maglite commercial on TV yesterday, and I laughed at the beam. :)

I do not actually keep any stuff like that in the cars. We have three cars and a motorcycle. I have a Bug out bag that I carry with me everywhere. It is a special tool carrying backpack. In that I tend to carry.
1.Sig 220 W/2Mags
2. Busse BM or HI Khukuri
3. Leatherman Supertool
4. Inova X5 tactical
5. SureFire 9P (oldy but goody)
6.SAK Rucksack
7.First Aid kit.
8. Sewing Kit
9. Assorted aspirins, antacids etc.
10. Sunglasses.
11. Assorted items depending on the season. (bug spray, hand warmers) that sort of thing.
Other items vary depending on where I am going and for how long. These are the basics that go everywhere with me, always.
