What knife combinations do you carry?

I guess I'm asking because I have a hard time working certain knives into my EDC rotation. Based on the fact that it is so convenient I always carry my SAK mini-champ. My second knife is usually something with a bigger blade like a slimline trapper, stockman or now my new sowbelly. All that being said the knives that have a hard time making the rotation are the smaller ones like my pen knives, mini-copperhead, lobster, tuxedo, etc. I guess I feel like it would be silly to carry two small knives.

Do any of you find this to be true for you too? Is it overkill to have more than one knife in your pocket? (can't wait for responses to that comment:D)

Merry Christmas to all!!

i carry whatever i feel like. i don't feel like i need to work anything in. it is all task based

i carry my opinel #7 constantly. in the past couple of weeks, i have also had along my Shrade penknife so that i can whittle when i am sitting around waiting for something to happen.

i just carry what i need. to tell you the truth, i have been using the tiny shrade more than the opinel for most cutting, but i really need the handle of the opinel when i am trying to do the rough shaping of whittlings or when i am carving pegs or carving shavings to start a fire. if i got a good solid little fixed blade then i could just carry the shrade and nevermind the opinel.

I hope not! I, like you always have a SAK Mini-champ. I have also been carrying either a Schrade whittler or a SAK Pioneer Pruner.

Merry Christmas!

Andy

For me, yes. I carry one in each front pocket, a CS Medium Voyager clipped to my left and a Vic Farmer in the right . :)

Oh yes! During trapping season, a Schrade 77OT rides in my jacket. Great for skinning on the line.

Merry Christmas all!

Daily, I carry but one- always a pocket clip (usually Spyderco). Hunting, I always carry two. My preference is a sheath model and a pocket clip or large stockman. Trouble is, they have to match. When carrying a Browning firearm, the knives must be Browning. I just received a Browning Ice Storm for the pocket clip, a nice design with a 3.25" VG10 blade.

Ruger was a different story. I couldn't warm up to the Case Ruger sheath models, so made one from a quality damascus blank and a good piece of mesquite from the nearby desert. A Ruger shield "harvested" from a handgun grip was inlaid to make it my Ruger knife. If my carry knives don't match by brand with each other and with the firearm it causes me to walk with a halting gait:D. Ithacas are difficult- I've seen sheath models but no folder to pair with one so I revert to two Spydercos like a Native and an Impala.

I haven't yet decided if my Dozier Master Hunter with my Kabar Dozier folder are compatable:confused::D. Any opinions would be welcome.:) Regards, ss.

Usually a stockman and my Wave on my belt.Wave is for brute work and the stockman for any detail.

I currently have a Vic Rambler and a Case CV red Moose in my pocket. I alternate between the Moose and a Vic Pioneer.

I have my kershaw blur with me at all times. unless I'm hunting or camping then I add my KOA Bush knife or a diff Fixed blade.

My EDC is a stockman in a belt pouch, mostly a small Queen.
Sometimes instead a slimline trapper.

Always a Buck Hartook in a side pouch with all my other stuff, diary, glasses, and phones.

If I am travelling, a Spyderco Native in my pocket.

My daily setup, and it has been this way for 10 years now although the knives may change, includes a slipjoint in my left front pocket. It goes in with my change and whatever else I may have in there. My right front pocket will have a large "tactical" style knife, I use the quotes on tactical because I don't carry this knife for that purpose, but I due like the style of these type knives. I always carry the large knife by itself with nothing else in that pocket. Now, when you get down to the nitty gritty of things, I end up using the slipjoint for 90% or more of my knife needs! I just like carrying the other because I enjoy having something different from the rest of the crowd! I choose between 3 Case knives I have; Gunstock, Barlow, and Razor, but received a ProTech Runt 2 this morning. I have removed the clip and it is riding in my left pocket right now. So far, so good. Today's right pocket knife is another Christmas present, a large Classic Sebenza with snakewood inserts.:D:thumbup:

My primary EDC changes from time to time. Some modern "semi-tactical", some modern traditional, and some old slippies with lots of sentimental value. I have far too many knives to carry just one. I like to enjoy them all.

What NEVER changes is my secondary EDC knife, my old and beloved Vic Soldier. I know some do not consider this a "traditional" knife, but I do, and well.... that's what matters. Right?

A few days ago the Soldier was paired with a three year old SnG. Quite a capable team, don't you think?

Have a wonderful Christmas.

Most of the time, I carry some sort of smallish, multi-blade slipjoint in my watchpocket. That's the knife that sees the most use throughout the day.

I also like to carry a small/medium sized fixed blade horizontally on my belt in a kydex sheath. It doesn't get used as often, but it's nice if you only have one hand available or if you need something for heavier duty.

There's a Victorinox Classic on my keychain, but I rarely use it. The little scissors can come in handy though sometimes.

My traditional knife always goes in my right front pocket. This could be a peanut or a small stockman, or an Opinel. A sak and a AAA LED light will ride in a nylon belt sheath behind my right hip. There is also a Vic classic in a leather sheath on my keyring.

Usually a battered VIC Classic goes in the left pocket with the handkerchief and micro-fiber lens cloth. Most days a SAK Tinker rides in the right pocket. If I'm going to carry something else in the right pocket, say a Case Mini-trapper, Queen teardrop jack, or the like, then the Tinker will often replace the Classic in the left pocket.

Hmm, it's gone down for the past year, but it's growing again :)

SAK executive
SAK Electrician
NKCA 1981 equal end Cattle knife with stag scales
Spyderco Caly 3 with G10 scales, VG10 blade
Spyderco Manix (soon)

And I have an imaginary Tony Bose teardrop whittler that never leaves my side :)
it has nice stag scales, 440v blade, it's so neat, I just wish everyone else could see it too...;)
G2

A swiss mulit-tool (everyday).
Spydrco Endura (ZDP-189) (everyday)

Alternate some, but one of the following will be with me as well.
1.)Case Yellow Handle CV Trapper
2.)MooreMaker Yellow Handle Trapper (1095)
3.)Great Eastern SARPNT
4.)A Burt Foster Blue Collar Hunter
5.)Burchtree Cashmere

Yes sometimes I carry two knives, but it's not because of the jobs I think I might come in contact with. It's because I just can't figure out which one to carry so I jam a couple in my pocket. I'm happy and so are the knives.

Depends on the day, a hike in the forest necessitates three or more knives...

Generally, one of the following: CASE Medium Stockman, CASE Mini Trapper, CASE Peanut, Queen Cutlery Slimline Trapper, CASE Mini Copperlock or other small lockback- Schrade OT3, Kershaw Scallion. PLUS a small sheath knife:Marttiini,Mora,Bark River Mini Northstar or Great Eastern No.10 Outer. A SAK Pioneer with saw or an Opinel gets into the equation really frequently, no wonder it takes me half hour to get out of the house.....

I carry a Case stockman in my pocket, and a Buck Alpha Dorado on my belt, and a Buck metro on my key chain if that counts. Sometimes a leatherman supertool 200 too.
