My minimal carry combo is a multitool and a slipjoint. Lately they have been my charge and an early 80s Case scout in CV. The Case belonged to my grandfather. If I'm not carying the Case, then its an Alox Vic with an awl or a stag Queen City cattleman with an awl. While not necessary, I find an awl to be too handy to not carry a knife with one.
My other multitool/slipjoint combo is a KF4 and a Vic Compact or Explorer for the scisors. The pliers and the diamond file are the tools I use the most on a multitool.
Beyond those combos, I normaly have a few others on me too. A vic Minichamp and a Squirt P4 normaly ride on my keychain. I've had the Minichamp for more than 20 years and the Squirt is just neat. Plus they make a good backup. I may forget the bigger knives, but if I leave the house, my keys are on me. I don't step out the door without them. Not since that time in college when I locked myself out of my room and had to spend a few hours sitting in the TV room in a towel. A Vic Executive is normaly about my person somewhere. Its another design I really like and its small enough to not be a bother. In my right hip pocket I normally have a Queen Mountain Man. I love the lines of the design and prefer the larger blade for food prep; cutting up apples, sausage and chesse.
