I am kicking myself for not getting a GEC #71 bullnose with the red linen micarta! I had the chance not long ago and decided against it and boy am I regretting that! That's one of my favorite GEC's I've come across! What knives do you guys regret not getting?

Daniel.

I don't think I regret NOT getting any, but in moments of financial need I've sold some I sure wish I had back.

I could got a custom knife for $150 bucks back in the mid 1980's. I went on Spring break instead.

Like Jeff, I've regretted selling a few. But there are also a few that I regret not buying or not putting in a high enough bid. I've paid the price and bought the same exact knife (an antique) from the person who bought the knife. I paid a hefty price. I actually ended up selling the knife when I had some hospital bills. Kind of regret selling it now but that's the way it goes.

With some knives, especially antiques, you don't always get many chances at them. With others, there will be more opportunities or something better down the road. It's not always easy but I try to distinguish between those two scenarios.

The bullnose is in production at GEC so keep your eyes open and maybe something will turn up. Good luck!

I don't think I've ever regretted passing one up.
I've come very close to selling some for financial gain, but have stopped myself realizing it's too hard to come by that piece again, it seems easier to come by cash than particular knives.

This is one that Doug Campbell made for last years St Judes Benefit auction over on TradGang.com. It was one of three items that I truly wanted really bad to pick up. I bought the other two but this knife quickly went above my pay grade. I still think about it quite frequently and may wind up trying to build myself a similar folder some day. I've never made a folder yet but something like this just looks like a knife I could grow old with.

Back in 1989 I met Bob Loveless through a friend. I was offered a couple knives a fair prices but I was in the process of buying my first home and money was just too tight to justify a four figure knife. Oh well...

I walked away from a Tapio Wirkkala Puuko for $25.00 years ago. It needed a good polish, but the guy wouldn't budge on the price, so I left it on the table. Still kicking myself over that one.

GEC 98 camp in amber bone (but I would "settle" for any cover material)
GEC 48 improved trapper and a single clip
Northwoods Hawthorne Clip

I messed up trying to get a Schrade 36OT off the auction site a month ago. I didn't put my max bid in and it sold for less than I would been happy to pay.

On traditional knives I kick myself for not getting the 2013 Bladeforum knife. I liked the pattern, but not the scale material. Held off assuming GEC would offer it as a production run and scales I'd like better. Also regret not getting in on some of the early GEC Barlows before it became a mad scramble.

I turned down a Warner-Moran Rio Grande Bowie at a gun show for a reasonable price 20 years back -- I really liked that pattern but funds weren't free flowing, so I passed on it.
the next time I saw the same knife, the price had gone up several hundred $$s.

I regret passing on a #15, even though it was a one arm open, I think I would have liked it. Darn #15s, a two bladed clip or spear main with jigged bone is probably my grail knife. :D I took up this "hobby" a bit too late, I think ...

I would say there are two that I currently regret not scooping up. The 2016 forum knife was still available when I joined and I was ever so close to buying it. However, with it so close to Christmas, I chose to put that money towards gifts for the family instead.

The second one that I am currently kicking myself for is the Mudbug. The sodbuster style is one I wanted to try out this month but some unexpected travel expenses cut into the knife budget. I will probably scoop up a cheap Rough Rider version, just to experience the pattern at least.

A jigged bone Northfield eureka jack. I didn't realize how much I liked the pattern, and now that I do I can't find one to save my life.

I passed on an old electrician-type knife with a whale tang stamp at a gun & knife show a couple of years ago. Wish I'd picked up that old Richartz for the tenspot the guy was asking.

I'm with you on that one. Decided it was too big at the time, now I want one.

One of the first GECs I bought was a #15 Farm Boy in Antique Yellow jigged bone. I fell in love with it, and picked up another in Rust Red jigged bone. At the time, there were still Farm Boys in Ebony an Nifebrite available, but I put off picking either of them up, and then all the sudden they were gone.

I've done that with a few other GECs that were less popular and didn't go flying off the shelves; I'd think, "Those have been in stock for a while, no rush." Then they'd disappear.

OP, I would keep an eye on all the GEC distributors sites. I don't think the Red Linen Micarta Bull Nose has gone up for sale on most of them yet, you shouldn't have too hard a time getting ahold of one.
