What knife did you get the best DEAL on??

I'm always looking for knives at reasonable prices and have come up with some great deals. Here are a couple:

A.G. Russell sold Bruuckman pocket knives that were made before WWII several years ago. There were many models and the prices ranged, as I recall, from $20-$30. I bought four, and they are really great-looking, high quality knives that seem to be selling much higher now.

As a closeout from Brigade Quatermaster I bought an EK Bowie for $29.95. They sell considerably higher than that now.

Al Mar SERE/Attack (as good as new) for $70 on Bladeauction (MSRP about $300) and I got my Al Mar Sportsman LE (brand spanking new) for 200 swedish kronor ($20) from Fallkniven. AG Russel sells them for $95...
Once I bought a REKAT Pioneer on Bladeauction for $70 and I consider that my worst buy. A true crap knife. Should sell for $20 considering the total lack of QC.

I got a CRKT M16-04 from Tom Carey for $20 but I had to buy his Speed Tech Synergy to get it for that price!

I know this is BEST deal but a strong runner up in Bargain of a lifetime My Greco Companion. 65.00 at blade art. Wow Great looking, well made knife, of great steel. That and the MST are steals.

I have over 125 knives in my collection and have never paid over $100 for a knife. Other than a few clunkers (we all have those) when I first started 15 years ago they are all quality knives which have increased in value. Look for closeouts, flea markets, garage sales, old general, sportingoods and hardwear stores and pawn shops(eBay doesnt treat fools lightly) for excellent deals. My best deals have been 5 nib early Browning knives (made in japan and germany, all 440c and handfitted-3 folders 2 fixed blades)for $50 for the lot from an old out of the way gunstore going out of business. An as "as new" pre-production CQC-7 (unmarked except for ats-34 on the blade for $40 at a gunshow. My favorite were two old ladies at the gunshow in West Palm Beach, Fla. who sold memorablia at their table from their long dead dad,s (an old time sportman) collection of "stuff" in the middle '90s along with other knicknacs. Old dad had been a salesman for Case way back when and had tons of oldstock and samples left over. Guys were buying old mint Cases for "carrying" knives. They liked me so over a period of time I picked up 4 salesmans samples of Case pocket knives at $20 each! My bigest regret was not picking up deals on all the closeouts when Blackjack and EK knives went out of business. Oh well I'll l keep looking as the deals are still out there. Good Luck Weldonk

I went by the local hardware store today, and found a Schrade Old Timer Mod 1250T folder in the old display. When I inquired about the knife, they could not find a box for it or a price and sold it to me for $15.00. Not too bad! The knife is brand new, and it is a large slim folder with a brass liner lock. I know she is not a show piece, but I had to share this one with yall.

and now for something different:

I just picked up a NIB Compass Industries black mantis butterfly knife for $18. They havent made these for 20 some years and I got it for less than what it retailed for. Pretty good for me....

Of course, they don't have it anymore, but last year at the Gun Show at the L.A. County Fairgrounds, Cold Steel would always have a booth. They would have a big box full of knives, most of which looked like they were at ground zero at an H-Bomb test. I pulled out a large clip point Voyager that, in my opinion, was just about perfect. It has the TINIEST little scratch on the blade, but I don't care because it is a daily carry user anyway. I got it for $15.00!!! That's the best deal I ever got.

I got most of my good deals from the for sale forum. The one that I use the most is a chinook that I got for $50.(thanks again Dirk) I use it everyday in my G2 sheath.

Around here, the CRKT Kasper folding fighter sells for about $60, and the Spyderco Navigator $55-75.

Picked up a Kasper for $35, and a Navigator for $36, both NIB; perhaps not the greatest prices, but compared to what I might have spent, they're not bad deals. I also picked up an 11" stiletto w/red acrylic scales in Italy for $17 US.
