What Knife Do I Need Next?

Currently, my collection (I'm relatively new to knives and just joined the forum, I am branching out from guns lately) consists of:
-Endura Wave
-Resilience
-Cryo
-Thermite
-Blur combo edge
-Shallot plain edge
-Boker AK auto

Since nobody else has asked, I will - what are you looking for in an EDC that you aren't getting from a knife that you already own?

I own a couple of the knives on your list (Cryo and AK) and they aren't in my EDC rotation either. Fish30114's suggestion of a ZT 0801 (which I also own) would be a nice choice, but I think I'd look at the 0770 as a more likely EDC knife. I am, anyway, as I don't own one at the moment. I think it'd also be worthwhile for you to try tracking down a Kershaw Lahar. They are discontinued but show up in the $70-100 range every now and then. Not a bad price for Japanese construction, VG-10 steel and the perfect size for pocket carry.

Nothing really, just need an excuse to buy another knife!

There are a handful of Spydercos I'd definitely like (Southard, Bradley, Manix 2), I hadn't considered a ZT but I'm going to look into them, a friend of mine is a LEO and carries one at work, they're definitely serious pieces of equipment.

Well change of plans, it's going to be another Boker AK, I found a desert tan plain edge auto version. I've been trying to find one of these for months but only ever could fine the combo edge. It had gotten to the point where I was going to buy the manual version and the springs and do the convert myself.

I guess I will be the lone dissenter here, I would pick up a ZT 801, if you shop around can be found at $10 north of your budget, I think it's a 3.25" blade however, but it's a classy both scales Ti folder with the KVT bearing system. If you like it as much as I do you can send it to Maprik here on the forums. to be anodized. View attachment 432181
Great steel and Classy!

You are definitely not alone in your recommendation. The quality for the price of the ZT 0801 is something I've yet to be able to beat, and I got one before the recent price declines. It is a 3.5" ELMAX blade.

That anodized titanium looks awesome! I may have to consider it myself.

I was going to say get a Spyderco made in Taichung Taiwan. You mentioned the Bradley so there you go.
Or any Benchmade axis lock.

I would go Benchmade Axis Lock. They have many different offerings in the size range you are looking for.

Spyderco domino, looks classy, fantastic ergos, versatile grip design, great CTS-XHP steel, flipper, black or blue/black carbon fiber, and Titanium framelock, basically the perfect mid sized EDC.

My vote goes to a ZT 0566. I recently picked one up and after taking the torsion bar out, I love it. Really flies open and is a great size for edc.

I've had two Dominos, two Brad Southards. Both were sold soon after they arrived. I have no use for flippers.
I love a Sage 2, and would carry one if I were restricted to a 3" blade.

Since you live in Texas, how about something barely legal?! How about a Cold Steel Recon 1 XL.

I know, I know, it isn't the most "practical EDC" I guess... But I carry mine every day and use it daily. It's pretty practical for me. And it's TX legal - barely! It will cut anything that needs cut and would definitely work for defense. It's so ridiculously huge at first that it will make you smile for a good long while. I'm used to mine now and most of my other folders all feel small and wimpy now. :(

Definitely check out the Benchmade 940, its slim and lightweight but can handle that of a much larger knife. If the reverse tanto isn't to your liking try the 943.
Also, the purple backspacer is ugly as crap IMO but you can find a different color(942, limited edition, ect) for around your price range if your patient!

Manix2 lightweight can easily be carried in a shirt pocket discretely. The Para2 would be another excellent choice. Imho both these knives deploy quicker than most autos and are much easier to close.

Spyderco sage 3 i think is the perfect gentlemens folder. Carbon fiber, 3 inch blade, smooth, super fast and also quiet deployment, wire pocket clip, lightweight and the bolt action lock is super fun to play with when your bored. You wont be dissappointed with this knife. Bolt action lock easily out performs benchmades axis lock and the cage ball bearing lock in my opionion.
