What knife do use to fillet fish?

Fillet3.jpg

Not stealing Guyon's picture, but I use the second one from the right. it's a rapala that came with a fishermans kit that I got for christmas one year.

Not to hijack, but a question for those of you with the Buck Silver Creek. How does this compare with a $6 Rapala? The buck is 420 steel, so not exactly high end, no idea what the <$10 ones are made of. What makes the Buck a better knife (serious question, not being snide)?

Saw the Buck fillet knife at Costco right now for $18 (I think) and it looks pretty nice.

Seems pretty well built and it has a really nice titanium coating. I don't know. it just feels like a much better knife.

Guyon, how do the KOA knives stack up for you versus the others? Been thinking about buying one or more of those.

I like them very much. In this pic, I marked my favorites with a red dot.
The Knives of Alaska blades are both marked.

Thanks Guyon. At some point I wish you would do a group compilation pic that include all of your fishing and hunting knife collection. I would be tempted to turn it into my wallpaper.

3rd from the left GERBER with the sharpener on the sheath.. bought that years ago and served me well for long time. just threw it away a couple of weeks ago. i couldnt get that thing sharp to save my life. it was abused.

Well, I guess I am in the minority insofar as I use nothing but a Phil Wilson Punta Chivato. I have an 8" and a 5", though only a pic of the 8".

Kycolonel,if you meant using Guyons knife collection pics as wallpaper for your house, that would be about right.;):D

Here's my Fallkniven F2. I use it for field dressing hogs and deer too. Blade's a little stiff for really fine filleting. Just got a nice kydex sheath for it too (shown).
