What Knife Do You Carry At Work?

You get to eat at work?!?!?

Lucky!!!!! 😊

(Cool knife!! 🤩)

Before I retired I generally carried an SAK. The can opener worked great for removing staples, and no one panicked when they saw it. In the Yukon I often carried a Dozier K1 General Utility in the office and no one blinked. The Yukon was great for knife carry; I remember seeing the premier and a trapper with a sheathed FB on his belt chatting in the legislature building one time. It wasn't an issue. In Ottawa, that probably would have caused a panic.

Work carry is usually my Steel Will Cutjack in D2 for general use cutting plastic bags, lift tape, barrier tape and other random things like cardboard etc. Either a ZT 0770 in Elmax or a Bel Aire lives in an interior cargo pocket for finer work.

I keep a pair of trauma shears in my kit to just airbags etc, and a basic box cutter for carpet and upholstery.

On the weekend it is usually a Vic Spartan paired with the ZT or Bel Aire. Unless I am at home, then it is just what happens to be in reach like my beater CrKT stuff I got for just that purpose.

I was remembering that before the Kershaw Blackout, I had a Gerber Gator. Great knife for the money and the times. One of the first well made and affordable hard use folders that I can remember. Can’t for the life of me remember what became of it. Could have been my younger brother. He “borrowed” a lot of my stuff. Its demise led to the acquisition of the Blackout, which is still with me to this day.

Victorinox Equestrian opens hay bales and picks out hooves. SOG Paratool does the same (the can opener makes a good hoof pick) and has pliers and several screwdrivers for work around the farm. One of these is usually with me on most days.

When I was working, I always carried a 110 and Gerber Multipliers. I was always needing to get into a control panel for one thing or another and the Gerbers were the best I found at that. As for the 110, well just because. :)

I've still got a weak spot for Gerber Multitools. Now there's a Gerber Center Drive with the bits in the RV.

Well; before I retired i would have a pocket knife ( varying from a pen knife to a GEC 2014 Blade Forums knife) in one pocket, a small Victorinox alox companion in the other, a knife in my desk drawer and a Victorinox Cadet in a jacket or coat pocket.

Each had it's uses.
