What knife do you consider the Glock of knives?

Aside from Glock's own branded knives, what manufacturer and model would you consider the Glock of Knives? In other words, a knife that just keeps on working with very little maintenance. It's virtually indestructible with an extremely durable finish. Doesn't have to be the prettiest, ie. Glock. Please list a folder and fixed blade. Thanks

From my own collection, I'd say the following:

Folder-Benchmade TSEK Axis (simple design, clean classic lines, reliable time-tested steel, big and built like a tank)

Fixed-Fallkniven A1 (see above...but fixed a blade with VG10 steel; other than that, the description is the same)

So many. Anything by Dozier, Chris Reeve, Strider, Masters of Defense, Mission, and Spyderco, of course, for very little money.

Doziers deserve an honourable mention, especially the Pro Guide. Utilitarian, plain jane & unassuming. Pop it from its kydex sheath and it is all action-a tireless cutter and worker with great feel in hand:very agile and accurate.

For the folder a Boye folder. Ugly as sin but sharp, holds an edge and as functional as anything.

Spyderco. When Glock first came out it had certain characteristics that well only a Glock had. It was "plastic", had a unique safe trigger, hi cap mags, certain ergonomics, and a certain look. ( remember when Glock successfully sued S&W when S&W released their "plastic" gun?) Now there are a number of "plastic" guns being made by different manufacturers, but still Glock led the way. Similarly with Spyderco. The first spydercos had a number of things only they had - the hole, the spyder bite edge, and the pocket clip. Now many manufacturers make knives with the same features, but Spyderco. like Glock led the way.

I don't know. What kind of knife do ignorant gangsters use and hold improperly?

I'd have to say Cold Steel. After all, what other company so arrogantly toots its own horn about the "superiority" of its own product?

No offence to Glock owners. They are a fine hand gun. But the "indestructable gun to end all guns" superiority complex surrounding Glock is absurd beyond belief.

BTW metallicat, Heckler and Koch had a plastic high cap handgun long before Glock did.

I have an unbranded lockblade probably made in China or Taiwan. The blade is 2 3/4 inches long and the scales and thumb stud are made of a rather soft plastic. I got it free when I bought a Puma Skinner from a gun show dealer.

It's razor sharp and probably gets used the most of all the knives I own. But if I want to impress people, I'll take out something else.

Spyderco Endura : low price, classic knife construction improvement, functional, minimal maintenance, efficiency and easy replaceable… exactly the same description as the Glock one. :D

Hi Planterz. You are right - the HK V something or other was it? I remember seeing it in a store. Did not mean to imply that Glock necessarily invented all those features, but did put them together in a package that was a marketing success and came to be identified with Glock. Just as I'm not suggesting Spyderco invented serrations or the pocket clip. BTW I have both Glocks and HKs and Spydercos so meant no slight to HK. :)

Hi Steven Andrews. No offense but I must disgree with you. I have Sigs and Benchmades. I love my Sigs. Benchmade is not Sig Sauer... and more I will not say. ;)
