What knife do you consider the Glock of knives?

hmmm....Glock has come to mean "the ugliest gun you'll ever love" to me sooo...I'll go with the Spydie Mili as my butt ugly lover without peer...
and the Greco Whisper CT as my plain Jane with moves and grooves...
Actually, a couple of no frills, all thrills friends of yesteryear come to mind... :D

Benchmade is certainly not Sig in my book.

Sigs are dependable, the other is iffy at best most of the time.

metallicat: You may be referring to the HK VP-70z highcap 18+1 of yesteryear. Had one NIB with 5 extra mags until 12 years ago. Sold it for the rediculous sum of 1200.00 then to a guy who really wanted it bad.

Go on, take the money and run.

Chris Reeve is Sig

Spyderco is Glock

The S30V Spyderco Military is the Glock of the knife world... In a folder

In a fixed blade I would say the Greco MST... :)

Just as I'm not suggesting Spyderco invented serrations or the pocket clip.

Actually it's a bit of a tangent but I do believe Spyderco is generally credited with inventing the pocket clip or at least being the first to successfully implement it on the production level.

Whomever gave me me bad reputation for my comment needs to learn to READ, and get his panties out of twist. Did I say anything bad about Glocks? No, just the over-hyped mystique surrounding them.

Get a life, get a clue, get some glasses.

I would have to say the Griptillian or the 721-722 Series. Blades are good and the handles don't scratch if you mess up and drop one.

Folder? My vote is with most of the folks here, Spyderco in FRN handles.

Fixed? I'll be the first to mention Swamp Rat, but now that I think about it a little the comparison doesn't quite fit.

I don't really see any fixed blades that seem like Glocks. To me folders are like hand guns and fixed blades are like rifles and shotguns.

Can anybody think of a knife that is most like a Remington 870 Express?

Chris

Spyderco gets my vote too. Both companies are brilliantly innovative and strongly favor function over form. I respect both the attitudes and the results. (Although my EDCs are from H&K and Camillus these days.)

As for the Maxx, it reminds me more of my Taurus Raging Bull. :D

Hmm... I'm not really sure if there's a knife company that accurately compares with Glock. I don't know. I can see why people see similarities between Spyderco and Glock though.

I've personally always equated Spyderco with HK. Many people don't like their products, or think that the stuff they make is ugly. However, you have to admit that both companies are always innovative. Their products are also high quality and the designs are purpose-driven.

spyderco because they are (like glocks) ..

less expensive than competitors
ugly
simple
designed to be functional... every time

I'd think that CRK, specifically the Sebenza in the folder category.

High end, not inexpensive, dedicated...cult-like following, a design that's often copied, quality manufactured, good service, well known name i.e., brand recognition that even non-knife enthusiasts are often aware of, high quality, durable, etc., etc., etc..

Spyderco Military for folder... Cold Steel SRK for allaround fixed... Cold Steel Master Hunter OR Bark River Woodland for hunting.
