What knife do you dislike or hate.

Really? Well seeing them as ugly I can see, that is just personal taste, but the knives...smnall , yes, but they are sharp, and hold an edge well, just a matter of simple maintnance...and the tools work just fine as long as you use them correctly...

Sound slike sunglasses, lol...A pair of Oakleys last a week, but a $5 pair from the drgu store always finds its way home, lol...

Whenever i used either one of the screwdrivers, the whole frame would twist. This is regardless of what I was trying to twist with them. I knew even less about sharpening back then than I do now (baaaad:eek:), but even a motorized sharpener wouldn't do it!. and the lackage of lock caused its share of cuts. Maybe its a good thing I couldn't get it sharp. And I had no idea a reply could be too short. dumb.still 10 characters short.

Hate? Any knife made by a former "operator"... "for operators, by operators...." Oh jeeze..lay off the cheese guys lol. And the knife is nowhere near strong, economical, and simple. But rather some crazy ass star trek lookin knife, thats freakin 13 inches long, and will slow your run down cuz its on a low ride sheath strapped to your leg...

Hmmm sounds strange, do you remembver if ti was a victorinox? Because there are so many ripoffs of the old swiss army knives...sound slike you just got stuck with a chinese copy...Don't know, but I cna understand your dissapointment either way...I have no problem my SAK's...but using a slipjoijt like that does require a bit of extra attention, I think I sometimes get too use to having a locking knife...and when I switch over to a classic slipjoint like one oif my case knives or somethgin I tend to get sloppy with it...and yes sometiems nick myself..

1. Miniatures...I hate miniature(not small) knives with a passion. They are absolutely useless....Sure they make some people happy, but so does sitting on their ass eating a gallon of chocolate ice cream.

2. Green River and Nessmuk skinners....eminently useful, but the ugliest knife ever created by man or orc.

3. Those big stupid import knives with oval holes in them, and the pot metal fantasy ones. Waste of materials..contributes to global warming..the producing parties should be executed by the Red Army.

4. ANY of these tacticool knives that are so heavy they could double as a doorstop. What exactly was the point, again? IF you actually strapped it to your hip, it would pull your pants down.

5. Stainless steel "katana" with a tanto tip.....another waste of precious raw materials...really.

Best Regards,

STeven Garsson

I HATE S.A.K.'s. I know, I know, let the flaming begin. I could never get one to take or hold an edge, they don't lock, the blade is too small, they look ugly IMO and the tools never work. I lost the only one I ever had, and I don't miss it. The only worthwhile thing on it was the can opener...for cleaning under my fingernails.

Maybe you just had the wrong SAK for the job.
This one has a large locking main blade that I can get razor sharp.
Heck, even the bottle opener/screwdriver blade locks.:)

As for which knives I hate....

The plastic ones at fast food joints!:barf:

Never met a knife I didn't like.

There are knives for which I have little use. But I can't bring myself to dislike or hate them.

Either you got a fake SAK,or you really suck at sharpening. ;) SAK steel is pretty much THE easiest steel to sharpen.

But yeah, your right, this SAK is hideous. ;-)

I HATE all slipjoint knives. They're like the old 10-speed racing bikes. Ass up in the air, head down staring at your front tire. Legs extended to the pedals. When mountain bikes came along it was a new day dawning. The same thing with rugged locking knives! It was about time. Yeah, Buck had its Model 110, but pocket clips, flippers, thumb studs and Zytel made things soooooo much better. And those little dishtop openers were even another great addition.

And, even though I recommend them on occasion, I also have a visceral dislike for Spyderco knives. Okay, I KNOW they're good knives. What I want from Spyderco is a little more generosity with their steel. All that money for these piddling little blades. Hello, does a 5-inch folder mean anything to them? And I'd like to see them stop punching round holes in the blades. Does BEAUTY mean anything to them? And a design with a little belly wouldn't be over the top, either.

And finally, Gerber knives, particularly their Paraframes, which I think are the worst knives I've ever used, and that includes dollar store Chinese knives. Actually, I put these in the "fantasy knives" category. If you think they're going to cut anything, you're living in a fantasy world!

Nobody has said anything here about the TOPS Tracker !?
I had one in my hands for a while so I could make a custom sheath for the guy who's 'knife' it was. I very quickly decided that I could see only 3 possible uses for the thing.. Driving nails, as a tyre lever (at a pinch) or as a spare mud-anchor for a fishing dinghy.
If I ever wanted to cut anything I'd have had to put the Tracker down and go fetch a knife ! :)

I only hate the ones I don't own yet, I am really trying to cut back on my buys, but that hate just drives me to say "I'll Take it" then it is on to the next one.
Love or hate em, gotta have em.:D

Navihawk,
Please email me about that sleeveboard. I would hate to see you trapped in a bad relationship like that.....

I'm not fond of Strider knives; I don't see why people like them. I'm also not into knives that are extremely thick. I use my knives to CUT, not to pry or hammer.

without a doubt the one i dislike the most is a REKAT sifu, due to the owner of REKAT being such a lovely human being & the scar on my finger were one cut me after the lock failed on the lock of the 21st century for the 3rd time.

A Cold Steel Recon Scout.

Given to me by a man who was at the time applying to be my stepfather... he never got the position and the gift (and the forced camping trip) are both atrocious remainders of how my parents are divorced.

Just can't seem to sell it. Carries too much (negative) sentimental value. Always wanted to leave it stuck in his front door with a note "You ruined my family's happiness."

I really used to dislike Buck. I tried to get over it, would buy another, then get disappointed all over again. It wasn't the 110, tho, since everyone and his bro had one in the day, I just tried some of the others.

The style of the older designs - boring, traditional, and very non-urban - has it's place. It's when they branch off with new modern stuff I get bent - rubber handles on fixed blades, inexpensive knock offs of major hard use makers, stuff like that. Of their own stuff, the style is never quite fresh, which I guess keeps from offending old customers. When they replicate, somehow the execution lacks the final touch.

My Buck Mayo TNT is fine, and the older Crosslock works great. They can do it. They just have this aura to me of some little guy in thick glasses who makes the final decision on the basis of the bottom line, not the customer. And he's in cahoots with some guy who thinks the Personal is the most beautiful shape ever - all handle, "no" blade.

I was a Gerber guy in those days. Bright new designs, great execution, real military items for sale on post. Oh well.
