Hi folks,
ok so here's what i mean. i bought a Reate District 9 flipper, standard shape blade. i love tantos , but they made that one too ugly so far as blade profile is concerned. i guess they don't have a clue as to how many more they will sell if they make the tanto version a bit more traditional.

Si once i bought this knife i was like ok I'm done i don't need any more knives just like i didn't need the Reate or most of my knives lol.

Yet, i still look for knives here on BF and elsewhere. I have found that based on the quality that the Reate D9 exhibits at the price that it does so;
i have simply found myself comparing it to a ton of knives i might consider buying. When i do that i say in my mind nope I'm not buying that knife because my Reate flipper cost far less and kicks that knife in the ass.

I know I CAN'T BE THE ONLY ONE WHO HAS HAD THIS EXPERIENCE WITH KNIVES. So please tell your story about the knife that cause you to not buy other knives.

p.s. as usual the caps ninja is on my tail. he knows i can't type worth a crap & follows me all the time.:o

I could have stopped after my 950 Rift. Carries great, comfortable in hand and perfect blade shape for my needs.

I could have stopped after my 635 Mini Skirmish. Perfect ergos, perfect blade shape, carries quite well for being tip down.

I could stop after my newly acquired Umnumzaan. It's quite perfect as well.

But will I stop? Probably not. Just may be more selective.

all you need is a leatherman and a cold steel kukri machete.IMG_20141209_235912.jpg the leatherman I keep in the trunk of my car. it is the rebar model. if I had to do again I would have spent more money to get the wave model or charge.

Spyderco Gayle Bradley ended my folder buying spree for awhile because it did everything better than all else i had then I decided to pick up a Kershaw/ Emerson cqc7k and now I want an Emerson lol

Wow! Sounds like my dilemma in a later post I started. I think I’ve bought all the knives I’ve had an interest in, until the next one comes along that I had yet to see. Is there a Therapist in the house??
I run out of room for more, than make more room. But right now I don’t have any particular knife I want; already bought them.

I just got a Northwoods Forest Jack that puts every other slipjoint I've ever owned to shame. It didn't make me want to stop though. Now I want more Northwoods.

But will I stop? Probably not. Just may be more selective.

This right here!

Any knife that makes you "not buy others' knives" is nothing more than a good match for you in the three categories of fit, function, and style. All that means is that you just received good feedback/knowledge of what you like and what works for you; and that gets filed in your mental list of preferences, so that each "next time" you're looking for a knife, you have a more specific idea of what you're looking for.

In other words, you are more selective!

The CRKT Obake has ended my spree for a bit, it's just such a perfectly executed blade, so sharp, so beautiful, carries so well, and for my bargain price of $20 and a 4 week wait, I couldn't pass it up.

My benchmade barrage made me buy less folders since I edc it. OK OK I admit eying the version of it with better steel but that's really it. I swear.
:-p

Not

I could have stopped after my gec #71 and I compare it to almost every knife I look at and ask the same you do. The answer is almost always no. But I do still. Buy some that perform the sameish but I only really need a knife to cut and the #71 is my benchmark

I m at a point where I don t really have a particular knife that I want right now. I do have a benchmade 761 back ordered mostly because my wife is giving me that for Christmas and it is a fine looking knife with good materials. But nothing really knocks me out at the moment. I may just relax and enjoy the moment. Currently rotate pm2 , manix2, and ritter grip for edc. Good for my uses at reasonable prices.

None have been able to stop the addiction, but my CRKT Ripple makes me think twice on a lot of purchases. I'm a huge fan of flippers, and for the incredible flipping action of a $30 knife it's hard for me to justify another "toy" knife. I've had knives that cost ten times as much and don't flip half as well.

I think it's all relative to one's budget for buying knives, for some, CRK's, Hinderers, Striders are their choice. I know more folks that would not drop 400.00 on a knife than those that would. There are great knives in all the budget ranges that are considered grails. I don't think there is one knife/maker that ends all others. It's always good to have a wide variety of knives in order to appreciate the qualities of each.

some of you guys aren't that sharp lol you're posting things related to the topic loo. Yet, not answering the topic question which is pretty clear. :)
