What knife do you take in the bush?

Just like the title says, whats your favorite bush whacking knife? I'm just getting more into hiking and hunting and whathaveyou and i've found that my ESEE 6 is my favorite all around knife. It chops, it cuts, it's big enough but not too big. If i'm looking to have some fun, i'll take my 12" Nepalese khukuri to take down some small trees with but it's a little heavy to hike with. So what kind of sharp metal do you guys take with you? Maybe you like machetes, maybe you like hatchets. Let's hear it.

PS pics are very welcome and highly appreciated.

If I'm car camping or base camp backpacking, I'll usually bring my Cold Steel Gurkha Kukri. It processes firewood like a mofo and makes life way easier if I'm not hauling it 15+ miles a day. For hiking or trail backpacking, it's usually one of my Moras, a KaBar USMC, or BK14, depending on where I'm going or what I'll be doing (no need for the big ol' KaBar if I'm in the desert with no wood to baton). These are always accompanied by a backup folder, which has historically been a Manix 2 LW or PM2, though I have a feeling my new Umnumzaan will be unseating them on the next trip.

Maybe ive been doing it wrong but I usually use my mouth not a knife :confused::confused:

You have indeed been doing it wrong sir. Obviously you didn't pay attention in sex-ed, because you're always supposed to take your knife to bed  ;)

Also, at least you went with that interpretation of it...there's some rather odd ways of looking at that title, which can make my Safety Mutt's handle design quite...disturbing...

Anyway, I usually take my Safety Mutt into the brush, along with a small folder if I'm in for hunting, and a hatchet if I'm camping of doing some old-fashioned camping. In terms of the folder, I actually like to take either my Benchamde Bone Collector or my Cold steel Code 4. Depends on what I'm doing. The hatchet I usually have is an old one that a friend of mine made for me. Thing take beatings like you wouldn't believe and never gives up.

I carry my Recurve Camper as a primary bushwhacking knife (12" overall).

If I'm out hiking or camping I typically have my ESEE 4 and whatever folder I happen to grab that day. If I plan it out I usually grab a Griptilian or Endura for the folder. Otherwise for hunting I bring my Benchmade skinner and Buck 110.

usually esee 4 and 18 inch marbles machete. of course a folder in the pocket as well sak camper or mini grip most of the time. sometimes schrade 1080t for carving its the best. going to try to replace all of that with an 18 inch HI kukri (deradune) im getting in on friday according to tracking info..... with that and the karda I was thinking i might not need the others..

Last time I went camping it was with this set up:

From now on its my fasthawk, ESEE 4 as my main fixed blade, Cold steel master hunter as a back up, and my PM2 on folder duty. Everything goes inside the bag with with the rest of my stuff except for the esee and the PM2. I really love the fasthawk because of how small and light, yet capable it is. SOG got one thing right :rolleyes:

Silly me I forgot to mention my folder I take. Thats for reminding me guys. I'll usually grab my CQC-13 just because it's the most rugged folder I own and I enjoy carrying it. Emerson lovers understand the pride of ownership thing. That knife has seen some shit though. I've had to cut down like 30 burr bushes with it in one sitting and it went through them like butter. Don't think i'll ever get rid of it.

A Victorinox Fieldmaster in one pocket and an Ontario Rat-1 in the other. Next trip out will see my recently acquired Scrap Yard 711 hanging from my belt (unless my TGLB gets here beforehand) and a SYKCO Scrapper 5 in my bag.
