What knife do you throw?

What knife or type of knife do you prefer for knife throwing? There seems to be a wide variety in use in competition throwing. Also, why do you prefer that knife? Does it have longer range, better balane, easier to maintain? Here are what I prefer.
The first is my own design. Nothing fancy. Just a piece of flatstock I buy and then hammer along one edge to get the curve and the grind on an edge. The second is also my own design. A piece of 1 x 3/8 inch flatstock that I hammered and double beveled for the double edge with a diomond point. The grip is molded with finger grips and simply wrapped with leather and laced. Easier to replace than pined leather strips.

Here's a couple I made that I like to throw:

Pretty simple design, 1/4" stock with a thick-ass bevel ground on 'em. Nice and heavy. I was thinking of putting a more acute bevel on them, but then I don't think I'd be able to get the larger one out of my target! It hits really hard.

They both can really take a beating!

I like the bare tapered handles for smooth release.

Yours are pretty cool-- I like the leather wrap. Looks like the top one might be a little difficult to throw by the blade- are you one of those cool no-spinner guys? I haven't figured that out yet, but I get pretty good distance with an underhand half-spin for some reason.

The top one is meant to be thrown by the handle. That one is kept razor sharp. I'd slice up my fingers pretty good.

Your knives are pretty cool too. Here are a couple more that I sold a while back for extra cash.

The scales hold up fine. But I did nick it with a tomahawk once.....Ouch !

Cold Steel Ultimate Thrower, I have used them for years and even broken a few. But I sent them back and get new replacements, can't beat that.

Just tried out my CS True Flight Throwers and I think that if it weren't for the fact that they're sharpened, they'd be just perfect. The balance is great (handle heavy), length is just right and the paracord grip isn't too obtrusive.

Trouble is that since they come from the factory sharp, the edge doesn't hold up to high impact hits very well. I've already chipped and blunted the edges of my knives. Easily fixed with a grinder tho.

I always found the best (reasonable priced of course) throwers to be made from spring steel, and weigh the same as the length i.e. 12" @ 12 oz's. Seems to be something I don't see much these days? Any other long time throwers notice this as well?

I have a bunch of Cold Steel varieties as well. Decent steel and priced very reasonable. CS is my new "do-all" company.

At the moment I'm using Black Triple Threat Thrower from United Cutlery. it changes often though.
