What knife do you use to open your packages with?

Usually the Jester on my keychain.

Scissors are best for clampack, though a sharp sheepsfoot blade works well too.

Most of the time it's my Grip 551, mainly because that's my EDC so it's always in my pocket. The axis doesn't hurt either, no need to put the box down to open or close the knife.

I have a beater Benchmade 721S that i keep on the table just for this purpose. I found that tanto blades (905, 722, 975, etc) work well on clamshell packages also.

Usually just a cheap little 3 inch blade jack knife i picked up for under 10.00
don't need something like a Buck 110 or a Zambezi fpr cutting packing tape.

My official package-opening knife is my REKAT Hobbit Fang. I've lightly Agrip-wrapped the handle for comfort, and it's sharp as a razor.

my retractable utility knife "box-cutter". i find myself favoring the disposible blades for all daily chores. being a butcher i spend enough of my life sharpening knives as it is.

today at work I used my Cuda Maxx 7.0 to open a couple boxes, and I used my SJTac to open the box containing its sheath.

Jester - I tend to carry it everywhere. Plus, if I happen to get large packages (;)) I can loop it over my pinky while lifting stuff.
For opening cardboard - cheapo, but rather thick, paring knife I modded to a dull wharncliff.

Yes, I have a designated knife for opening new knives' packaged. It's an older, USA-made, Chicago Cutlery utility knife. I rarely use it for anything else.

I was just curious as to what knife everyone else uses to open their packages, especially those with one or more new knives in them. :D

Scissors and letter openers.

My EDC: SAK Spartan Lite. Yes blister pack is dangerous, needs much control. However, with smooth polished edge of my SAK, once the tip penetrates, not much problem.

Silenthunter .. who's that on your avatar?

New here, but not new to knives. I opened a package just the other day and to do so I used my Benchmade 610 Rukus..........a package opening knife if ever there was one!

Leatherman Wave serrated blade, or steel Spyderco Rescue (designated package knife) at home.

I'm going to have to put a third on the cricket for clamshells. Tears through them like a swat team at a hippy convention.

I use whatever I have on me to open packages elsewise. I mean, I carry a knife to cut stuff. I'm not going to be a knife snob unless someone intends to use it as as screwdriver.
