What knife does Bear Grylls use?

Seems like he is more inclined to use the excelent steak knives in the expensive restaurants he goes to right after recording each chapter of his show.:D
So you're saying he didn't buy a 'fancy gentlemen' knife specifically to take to steak restaurants?

He takes pictures with the Gerber knives for publicity, then he takes the cash and gets a haircut, manicure and pedicure after a long day at the wilderness ranch, and then goes to dinner for a fancy steak. Using an Opinel for a steak knife since that is all he can afford after the "me" time.

Ok, I got a little carried away. :D

t depends on the show, he has used several knives, there are other threads about this, use the search function, it should give you the info you’re looking for

I thought it used one of it's own design and made by Gerber.
Maybe with a unsharpened/unground blade, since it is too dum to know which end to grip tight?
I'd be surprised if the producers would let it have anything sharp. On or off camera.

It is one of the few things that makes Bullwinkle Moose appear intelligent.
(Keep in mind, Bullwinkle Moose makes Rocky J. Squirrel, Boris, Natasha, Sponge Bob, Patrick, a rock, door knob, and a kumquat look like a Stephen Hawkins or Einstein.)

This is the knife he used in his early shows, long before 'Gerber'.
Designed by Rob Bayley in England.
It originally was just marked 'Bayley Knife', later as the show became popular 'Bear/Bear Grylls' was added onto the blade and also to the sheath.
Was made partially serrated and also a plain edge.

Why don't Bear Grylls use his Gerber branded knife?
Because they are a complete POS! If he did in any of the shows...There was a Prop man standing just out of camera shot with a box of replacement knives... All of his shows are completely staged.. Nothing real there at all!.. Complete camera, rigging & Caterer with them at all times! Les Stroud’s show, was far more realistic!

I know the joy of bashing Bear G and his choice of knives will go on for a page or so, but I would like to thank chambelona59 for taking the time to post all the pics of the Bayleyknife (knife) and carry rig before they get lost in the snark. What a great looking setup! I like simple designs that are made for utility purposes. I like the serrations as I have only seen that type (teeth, not just flat ground on one side or ground both sides to match the blade grind) on a couple of custom knives. Teeth like that grab like hell and are tremendously useful, especially on a smaller knife like that.

Carry on.

Robert
