What Knife for Rambo 4...

Since it would be filmed in Australia anyhow, like all other movies of late ;), he would have to use a Jensen Elite Spec Ops EVO! ;)

Hey Sly, if you dont film it in Aus, get yourself a Busse variant, something like a 10" fighter of sorts....;) :D

If they do a forth movie I'd like to see them go back to basics. First Blood was really cool. It wasn't just another action flick.

 :D

I'm a Stallone fan and First Blood was a great movie. Too bad it was all down hill from there. The chance of them going back to basics are not even slim, just none. :grumpy:

John in Boise, I think you're right on the money! I saw Rambo II & III DVD's in Walmart for $5.88. I passed. If he followed his off-screen values, the next knife would be a "photograph" of a spork -- the real thing could be used as a weapon.

I can't stand actors who think "art imitates life" while dismissing the concept of "life imitates art".

Stallone, if you're out there, know that there are paying public out here that won't watch your movies because we don't like your off screen values! That's right, "paying" public not paying for your movies.

Australia?

Most films are shot in Canada thanks to the beaver buck and lower wages. And a wee bit of trivia, parts of First Blood was filmed between Hope and Chilliwack BC in the Fraser Valley.

So I'm guessing that #4 will be shot in Canada and he should have a Grohmann model #1... I know its a wee little 4" blade, but Sly doesn't need a long blade to compensate for his height.

Cheers.

Oh yes, I almost forgot to add a plot line..

He'll be fighting members of the terrorist cell Al-Canada who are illegally dumping softwood lumber on the US market..

Since I don't read magazines or newspapers, and have no cable TV, and seldom watch the 6 network channels that I do have, I don't know what "off screen values" you're talking about. And the reference to "spork" has me mystified too (tho' I know what a spork is after a couple of short stays in the local slammer, courtesy of one of my former wives ;-). Normally, the off screen values of movie stars don't interest me, but this one makes me curious.

Rambo 4?!?!?
Hope this is a joke.
Everything named "Rambo" and bearing a number is absolute comedy. The problem that they don't notice it.
(No offence to part 1 meant. Great Thing)

I think 'ol Rambo, John J. should carry Jack Crain's LIFE SUPPORT SYSTEM X with a 12" blade, sawteeth and oversize hollow handle. It's the larger version of the LS1 used by Arnold in "Commando". Check it out at www.crainknives.com

Guess he feels that his fame an fortune is enough to sell knives, and it probably is. I got tired of reading all his credits, so didn't read everything, but as near as I can tell, the closest he comes to naming blade material is "modern stainless steel" whatever that might be.

Well, John, I don't follow such stuff either, except what I read on these (and some gun forums). ...but what do you look at when you're checking out of Winco, the beef jerkey?

Bruce

You lost me on that one, Bruce. Anyway, I have a particular checker at Winco who's well worth looking at, and she ain't beef jerky (or chopped liver):p And, I guess, we have to accept the fact that the average "survival" knife buyer doesn't know AUS8 or 440c from beef jerky.

... to recommend our own Robert Hankins?:) Start with one of his large bowies or fighters and add in a few features from his nightmare induced custom creations for pucker factor! Perfect!!! :D

There was another nightmare one I remember from a while back but I can't find it right now.

Jack Crain's LSX is 440C Stainless but I'm sure he'd do one in his other favorite, Parkerized 1095.
I guess you either like 440 or you hate it. I like it.

I have nothing against 440, in certain applications(and , of course, 440 isn't all the same, right?) My point was that he doesn't bother indicating what his stainless knives are made made from, *specifically*, which gives me the impression that he's assuming that his customers don't know the difference. If he tried to sell a knife to 100 members of this forum, probably at least 98 of them would sure as hell want to know some specifics of the blade material beyond his somewhat nebulous term "modern stainless".

His knives may be among the best in the world, I surely don't know, but from the descriptions of them, on his website, it doesn't appear that he is targeting his market at people who know about knives, steels, blah blah blah, rather his marketing strategy is based on how many prospective customers are impressed with his Hollywood credentials. I, for one, couldn't give a rip how many movies his knives have been in. For that kind of money, a knive had better be among the best in the world.

I guess, if you boil it down, I'm more than a little turned off by his blatant emphasis on how many celebraties own his knives and have used them in famous movies, rather than why they are good, what materials are used to make them, what makes them worth seven and eight hundred bucks, you know, stuff like that. My 2 cents. YMMV

I liked all the Rambo films and Stallone."Cobra" is my favorite and watch it every time its on.

I love action movies but I to would like to see a back to basics movie with less explosions in it.Part 1 was a lot like movies such as Deliverance, just raw and gritty no freels and real believable.I would like to see him carry a Busse blade or a Randall.
