What knife gift did you buy someone?

Father a spyderco captain, (he wants a boat), brother a manix, he is 6'7" probably a good fit

a sof field pup for my dad and a U.S. army marked karbar for my Army Ranger father in law just like the one he carried in Granada. I got 2 trailmaster bowies and 2 spyderco natives for myself this week.

Sharpmaker to a dear friend who had problems sharpening, EKI CQC-13 to my Dad:).

I made my oldest daughter and niece a knife kit each (my LP knife). I profiled and ground the blades out of 1/8" O-1, roughed out some maroon micarta handle slabs, cut some brass pins and some kydex to make a sheath.

I plan on showing them how to finish them this week. We need to drill pin holes, heat treat and polish the blades, drill and attach the handles then shape them, make up the sheaths, then attach a small Tek-Lok to each.

They know about them already, and are really looking forward to them. I also included a brand new pair of work gloves, safety glasses and a dust mask in each kit!

The knives should look something like this when done.

For my weightlifting partner, a 5.5" CRK Green Beret.
For several friends, Vic SAKs of various models.
For my wife, a CRK Mnandi:

The inlay is ebony, which reminds her of our daughter's piano playing . . . and she likes diamonds. I gave it to her early, and she's been EDCing it for 2 weeks.

I really splurged this year.. thank goodness (and Bush) for my tax return.

-Brother got a Benchmade AFCK and a Kershaw medium liner:

plus i restocked my 'grab bag' of assorted knives for gifting and such to last through the year. Basically, when i find a kicken deal i sometimes jump and find it a new home down the road... (kids turn 13/16 its always great, or if a friend goes active duty or redeployed, etc)... a CRKT M16, a CS voyager tanto (smallest), a CS vaquero medium, CS SRK, Kabar 8" fighter.

And this is what i got myself this month,... crazy just begins to describe this months spree, but tis the season:

-Tan/Black Battle Rat x2
-Infi-Coot
-Bandicoot
-Howling Rat x2 (one varient, one plane, both gen2)
-Tan Ratchet
-Game Wardens (2 fish scale, one hunter orange)
-Mischief-6 x2
-ScrapYard Scrapper4 (the ifni one) x2
-Fusion Battle Mistress with mag scales...
-Rusk Kensai
-American Kensai
-Used CS scemitar
-Spyderco Catcherman
-Junglee Sword
-Kershaw axe
-CS superKukri (or magnum Kukri) something like that...
-Boker Smatchet (440c micarta 1200run version)

An older carbon steel Imperal Boy Scout pocket knife from around the 50's for my brother.
A Schrade 34OT USA Middleman for my dad as he has carried one for many years.
A Mora 860 MG carbon for my sisters boyfriend, also got one for myself. I'm very impressed with them, seems so natural in the hand and well thought out blade shape.

I'm giving my Brother In Law a Victorinox Soldier, he's seen me use my blue SE Spydie Dodo and called it "scary", and remarked that he couldn't use one of "those kind of knives" at work....

i figure he *needs* a good solid knife, and who could *possibly* be offended or scared by a SAK, especially one that looks like a "Gent's" folder like the Vic Soldier, classic, understated knife, solidly built to last a lifetime and beyond

nobody else at home needed any more knives, as they've been gifted knives throughout the year, they're all set

and yes, i *did* sharpen Al's Soldier before packaging it back up, it's sharper than new, "Scary-Sharp", shaves arm hair easily, don't worry, i will warn him to be careful, as it's likely the sharpest blade he's handled

NRA 12300 Fecas Gunstock model for the old man. More for novelty than anything else. He likes his knives guns and is an NRA member, so he'll like it.

Leatherman Kick for my son. He's a theater technician and can use it for work.

Both from Ebay and nice bargains.

Hey Guys....

I'm giving Spyderco Waved Delicas this Christmas with matching Speed Dialers.

For the first time in a long time, perhaps ever, I did not buy anyone a knife this year. I'm sure everyone will be shocked. :)

I gave my brother a silver Alox Soldier. I snuck into his jacket at Thanksgiving.

I'm giving out several Leatherman's. One of my recipients is also recieving a lockblade straight edge, one of those China made Tom Anderson designed itmes. I know it's not the greatest knife, but the recipient had been eyeing that model and intends on using it exculsively for packing and unpacking shipping boxes.

One of the many things I've gotten for my girlfriend is an SE Jester. I also got an Inova X1 for a friend. Not a knife, but EDC related.
