What knife has the best ergos? (Folder)

Manix 2 is the best feeling handle I have ever used. Feels good choked up on the choil and just as good using the handle only. Everyone's hand size and taste is different so you may have to try several types before you find what you desire.
AntDog mentioned the SERE2000 and I agree regarding comfort -- mine has excellent ergos. And it has the feel of a custom.

I have larger hands and really like the feel of Emerson handles, especially my Super Commander. Emersons have excellent ergonomic handles.

But you mentioned you want to be able to choke up on the blade. For that, I'd recommend a Spyderco Manix 2. Mine is an outstanding edc knife that is sharp, stout, smooth, comfortable, and sheople-friendly. And you can really choke up in order to get a precision cut.

I was wondering if anyone can recommend a knife for it's ergonomics. The steel isn't as important since I don't plan on using it for heavy duty tasks. It can be 8cr13mov or aus8 for all I care. I would like a knife with superior grip, g10, micarta, canvas or similar. Finger grooves, choil, jimping, thumb ramps, would be great. I want to be able to comfortably choke up on the blade. Unfortunately, it seems to me I can only find fixed blades with the ergos I'm looking for

Pick an Emerson, any Emerson.

I have to give a shout out to the Superleaf, fits my hand like no other.: cool:

Would have to agree with others, the Military family from full size, to Para and Para 2 are all my favorites. Pick your size, they are all thin, cut great and fit my hand perfectly

For me.... (obviously not everyone):

Ontario rat 1
Kershaw junk yard dog
Protech Rockey
Kershaw g10 tyrade
Any mora fixed blade.

These beat out my CRKs, striders, and ZTs.

Spyderco Kiwi 4. Best ergos of any knife I have ever owned or held.

I like it so much I'm considering getting a custom fixed-blade version of it made.

Well, it has been said in this thread but I will agree...
Spyderco has the best line up out there. Go to a brick and mortar store and hold them (ALL of them) and decide what works best for you.
Even if they don't have the blade configuration you are looking for (IE plain/serrated, black or not) at least you will know the feel.

This Desert Storm Hammond Cruiser from CRKT has the best ergos for me. 5.25" closed, good width, just feels terrific in the hand. AUS-8 steel.
Has the double locking system so very secure as well.

I would like to hear more from the OP on what sort of things he's doing?

IMO, handle shape really depends on the task at hand, along with hand size.

I find knives with finger groves and ramps and such like that feel good initially when just holding the knife and they feel ok for strong cutting in a straight cut. But on most cutting tasks they quickly annoy me because the tasks demands that I subtly change my grip and the handle features force my hand into a single position. When working with wood, as soon as I flip the knife to make a draw cut, I'll toss a knife with finger grooves across the yard.

For jobs that put a lot of twist on the blade, I prefer a knife with some flats on the sides. The big Schrade and Buck 110 both do well in that regard. For general EDC, I prefer the round handle of the Opinel. It feels nearly perfect in nearly all circumstances. Very hard cutting it can twist a bit.

The Mora Companion is the most amount of shaping that I can tollerate.

Griptilian. Very comfortable. Get the large or small depending on your hand size.
