what knife is good for a United States Marine

That would be birds and beer then? Didn't think Marines were any different to any other soldier on this; possibly just better taste in both, but that could be argued.

Heh....not positive I understand. Surely you're not suggesting that there is any possibility that he would spend his combat knife money on...umm...booze and women? Just the mere thought of it makes me feel...umm...patriotic. <G>

One of the biggest factors is cost. There are some fantastic knives out there that are also fantastically expensive. Things have a tendency to walk off or get lost.
I'd have no problems recommending a Winkler knife and throw some molle clips on it. I use a Winkler Hunting knife because it doesn't have the thumb ramp.
However, I'd look at an ESEE 4 or possibly a 6. Bombproof warranty and takes/keeps an edge quite well.

Ichor that's probably a better idea thank you very much sir.I don't really care what it costs as long as he gets the best I'm happy. as far as branches of service it really doesn't matter .we need them all anyway don't we?...he'll probably spend most of his money in a whorehouse..and whiskey..
