In this past year I have gone through a few edc blades. I went from a Spyderco Endura, to a Strider SNG, to a Strider SMF, and back to a Spyderco Military. I thought I needed the bigger badder strider, but it was just to much for an EDC. I even tried to go with a fixed blade as an EDC, I was carrying a RAT Izula for a bit, but I found out I am not a neck carry kind of guy.

Spent most of the weekend in a sukkah sort of camping out. I found it really handy to have a Buck 301 stockman in my pocket. It got called upon for all sorts of chores: cutting twine, making holes in palm fronds. Opening gifts and goody bags. Worked great. The one I used is a '97 with the flat ground blades, which I like better for its looks than the current super hollow grind. (Either blade style cuts just fine.) It's pictured here on the bottom.

I have a late production USA 303 with hollow grinds and while not quite as nice as as flat grinds it gets quite sharp.

It's quite a lot like the upper one in the above picture.

Everything about it is great except the steel. It loses its edge very fast, faster than any other brand name knife I own.

But its thinness, security in hand, and ease of sharpening were too hard to give up. I've since replaced it with a G10 Leek.

Humm, I've put my two Subclaws through hell as general household beater knives and they've held up very well. But I made sure to keep the force vector in the plane of the blade when cutting things that were abusive of knives this small/thin.

As for EDC, the knife that's on me almost every time I leave the front door in non-rural contexts is still the EKI folding karambit. I used to despise the chisel grind whenever this happened to be the only knife on me, and I had a utility task at hand, but I have since grown more apathetic about it and just bungle through. Brilliant SD item though.

too bad the c/k folder isn't assisted.

In my pocket right this minute is a PIC #15507 Japan Stainless Swing Guard which no longer has the guard on it. It is QUITE sharp!

right now an ulster boy scout knife ive "rediscovered" and am enjoying carrying.
later it will be a kershaw skyline and most likely a case peanut.
