What knife most closely matches this wish list?

I'll second that. The Camillus EDC sounds perfect and fits your criteria very well. And the grind is oh so lovely...

Ick. If the Osprey steel falls between AUS-6 and AUS-8, I retract my suggestion. A hundred bucks is way too much for something like that...

Sound suspiciously like a CAMILLUS EDC to me. (Available in 420HC - $50, 154CM - $50, D2 - $70, or Talonite - $160)

Camillus customer support simply CANNOT BE BEAT in a major production company - and it's a tough little knife. It's got a plenty strong frame lock, good ergos, great balance, and the blade length is apx. 3.125" (I dunno how anyone ever came up with a sub-3" measurement, no matter what weird position I put it in, it always comes alot closer to 3.125" on my 154CM EDC) with a very pleasant recurve. Also Camillus is kinda famous for fantastic heat treats, making pretty much any steel they use perform better than it does in many competing manufacturers.

Another one that hit me, if you are willing to tolerate AUS-8A, maybe you should go looking for a Spyderco Micarta Calypso Jr., it isn't made of a "premium" and it's blade length is only 2 7/8" I believe, but it's a solid lil lock back with some great handles - the plainedge variants are becoming quite rare as well, so if you wanted one i'd try the BF Knife Exchange before anything else (not even John F. Jensen is selling PE Micarta Calypso Jr.s anymore).
Also by the way, the Ti Salsas use ATS-34.

If you want to go to the upper end of your price spectrum, check out a Benchmade 720 or 721 (depending on whether your prefer T-6 Aluminum or G-10.), I found this to be a very ergonomically pleasing knife with the totally awesome axis lock... I believe it is around 3 1/4" in blade length.

It's your call.

Another weird one, Z60CDV14. Think it's close to VG-10. Teflon coated, though...

Sorry to burst your bubble, but Z60CDV14 is basically a slightly fiddled with AUS6A, and what's been fiddled has not been for improvement IMHO.

Comp of AUS6A:
0.65 Carbon
1.00 Manganese
14.00 Chromium
0.50 Nickel
0.10-0.20 Vanadium
0.00 Molybdenum
1.00 Silicone
0.00 Tungsten
0.00 Copper
0.00 Cobalt

Comp of Z60CDV14:
0.60-0.65 Carbon
0.45 Manganese
14.00 Chromium
0.15 Nickel
0.15-0.20 Vanadium
0.55-0.60 Molybdenum (the only major chemical difference, and not a very big one)
0.35 Silicone
0.00 Tungsten
0.00 Copper
0.00 Cobalt

So as ya can see, Z60CDV14 is hardly a "serious" steel.

This is a ridiculously easy one. Get a Camillus EDC in what ever blade material suits you.

1. Blade length: 2.95"
2. Blade shape: not a spear point
3. Blade geometry: flat grind and recurve.
4. Blade steel: D2, 154CM, talonite or 420HC
5. Handle material: 420HC
6. Price: D2 version is only $85.00 at A.G. Russell!!!
7. Locking mechanism: solid frame lock
8. Other: working man's knife
9. Other: Camillus has the best customer service out there

Well, what do I say to that but...duh! I can't believe I overlooked that one - it was the sinus medicine, really it was!

Question about the D2 version - I almost bought a D2 Arclite from A.G. Russell, but noticed that the reverse side of the blade had some obnoxiously (IMO) large writing on it:

Is this on the EDC D2 as well? If not, then this is almost a no-brainer!

Edited to add: I just noticed that this is a picture of a folder, and not the Arclite. I'm assuming the folder is the EDC. However, this picture is taken from AGR's site and shown in the Arclite section.

Thanks,

Matthew

BTTT since I would really like to know if the blade has the markings indicated in the picture, or if that's for an Arclite.

Thanks,

Matthew
