What knife (or mfg/maker) has impressed you most recently?

For me, it's been Outdoor Edge. I had been carrying a Benchmade Leopard Cub until a month or 2 ago as my EDC. I picked up a Paragee at a gun show for $30.00, and I must say I'm very impressed with it, to the point that it's replaced my now retired Cub.

I am fairly new to the knife game, but there are a few. Jerry Hossom, Strider, and Himalayan Imports.

Entrek. Got the Warrior model in, has a 7 1/2 inch blade, 12 inch overall. Fit and finish are perfect, grind lines are all on the money. Kydex sheath is flimsy but other than that an exceptional knife from Ray Ennis.

Hands down, it has to be my new Darrel Ralph EDC, with anodized Ti scales, 3.6" recurved blade.

To make it even better, I won it in the contest here last spring.

I hope to see Darrel at the NY Custom Knife Show in a few weeks to thank him personally. :)

Mick Strider, Duane Dwyer, and Rob Simonich are the names that come to mind.

Mick and Duane have REALLY been coming to the fore with their new designs and I'm doing everything I can to get on the waiting list for the new stuff.

Rob has been sharing top-billing with the Strider Guys on my list since I first stumbled across his website (thanks to Chiro75.) I just snagged an SRT and it is an absolutely amazing blade. I haven't yet had an opportunity to take it out and test it thanks to some inclement weather but I'm confident that it'll handle everything my regularly abused Strider Knives can. :D

If I sold off everything I currently owned, these three are the ONLY makers whose gear I would NEED to keep.

Edit:I can't believe I forgot ATC. They're redefining what a hard-use tomahawk is supposed to be. They are pushing the envelope on design, carry options, training, and manufacture of these high-impact tools and there couldn't be a nicer guy driving the whole thing--Andy Prisco.

I also have to say the Kershaw "Chive". I had heard so much about this knife that I finnaly broke down and bought one. I just love that little knife!! I recently just used it HARD the other day and it's a dream. If you haven't already done so, get one, you will not regret it. Regards. -Rick

Benchmade CUSTOMER SERVICE. I E-mailed them about a customer service issue. Within 30 seconds of seeing "mail sent" my phone rang. None other that Todd Notebloom, head honcho for BM customer relations. A few days later, my new clip for my 812 and an extra clip and screws for my 710. That is what I call super speedy customer service, and I KNEW when I bought the new 812, the clip had been borrowed for a project. No problem, BM sent me a brand spanking new one and now I have another extra with short screws for I presume a 710, 722, 735, etc.......Now just get them a little sharper!!!!!!wolf

SebenzaSebenzaSebenza......................just say it three times, buy one, and use it, and you will see what I mean!

So many great companies making great knives out there ... not to put any of them down ... my Sebenza is my number one knife, no question about it.

I just got a Buck Strider, the large ATS-34 clip point, and it is a big, solid, smooth, tough, sharp piece of equipment. I am real pleased with it, even if it's a bit too big for daily carry!

At the other end of the spectrum, I just handled a Chive. What a beautiful little knife. You could lose it in the bottom of your wallet, but it's a quick, sharp, and tough package. That flipper snaps the blade out faster than an automatic. It's really a piece of working jewelry.

Just last week purchased the Andre Devilliers Bushking sight unseen and I'm amazed at the all around quality. Top notch maker!
This won't be my last ADV.

There are a lot of good values out there. Of the recent ones, the Gerber ATS-34 Gator was cheap as can be and after a touch up of the edge, has proven itself to be a good daily beater.

The last custom I got was a Trace Rinaldi Armegeddon in CPM-3V. This is just as good as the other favorite of mine, the TTKK.

About a year ago I got a Victornox Altimeter model SAK. For huge gadget factor, "neat" factor, etc. it is a very good blend of usefulness and gadget factor.

Although I meanwhile favour other knives, the large Crawford/Kasper folder was for me the most impressing knife (first time handling) until now.
IMO one of the best fighting/selfdefense folder designs. Nota bene only design, lock and the used materials need improvements.
