What knife (or mfg/maker) has impressed you most recently?

I'm also happy with the limited run that Benchmade has done with of the Elishewitz designed model 730 with carbon fiber scales and M2 steel.

Great knife design and combination of materials, the fit and finish on the one I got yesterday is quite good, and the knife came adequately sharp out of the box. Good job by the folks in Oregon City.

I am tremendously impressed with the work of Bob Dozier. His approach is almost minimalist, but the results are functional, versatile, and beautiful.

A.T. Barr, Mayo, GenO Denning, Bailey Bradshaw and Sebenza's. Sold Everything else I had except for those:D

Still waiting on my TNT.

Have bought two Barr's recently and have one more coming. I think he is one of the best out there. Great knives, great guy!

Now Mayo;)

I also am impressed with Mike Obenauf's work.

I am also impressed with Tom Mayo, and R.W. Clark.

These three gentlemen make some truly awesome knives,
and when I can convince myself to buy a custom, these three
top my list, along with Kit Carson, and Darrel Ralph.

As for the rest of the makers who frequent this site, FWIW,
me, as a potential customer, is watching with great interest to see
what models they offer, and how they are to work with.

Resently, hmm, let me think :)

The most resent was definitely Strider at BAKCA show, Duane had some terrific custom pieces:

And also the limited run of BM 730 Ares in M2 was a nice surprise :)

Kershaw has been impressing the stuffing out of me lately. Their collaborations with Ken Onion are all well worth the money spent on them.

I'm very pleased with the new model 1650 Vapor II.
It's a 3.5" 6A(?) bladed Integral Frame Lock folder that is slim enough and fancy looking enough to be a larger gentlemen's folder, but strong enough to do utility/defense work. The design absolutely ROCKS!

Kershaw has also brought out a couple of new Speed Safe folders that are just too cool. They are the Scallion and the Chive and are also Ken Onion collabs. I have both and love them dearly.:D

Mr. Onion and Kershaw have also brought out a new fixed blade based on the Whirlwind folder. It is in AUS-8A IIRC and looks like yet another real winner for them. Just from seeing the pics, I know I have gotta have this knife.

ATC Next Generation tomahawks

TOPS CQT Magnum 747, bowie blade, smooth edge.

many others have impressed me, but this is most recent.

I've been impressed with CRKT's stuff recently as well as Kershaw's new Onion models. As far as specific recent production pieces, I've been impressed by:

Buck Strider
Kershaw Chive
Camillus EDC
Benchmade 690

Who has impressed me most? Well....... I won't bother to mention the likes of Bob Dozier and Chris Reeve. Everybody knows that they're sensational knife makers. So I'll mention the biggest underdog I can think of.

Kershaw impressed the heck out of me with their Double Cross. The design is simply outstanding, and the knife looks gorgeous. Kershaw successfully took an age-old design and brought it into this century. They added some gorgeous styling, added one-hand opening and a liner lock. Well done!!!! Oh yah. They even got the blades right and tossed in a Wharncliffe!!! This knife an absolute must.

My, Bob Dozier Slim Outdoorsman, with jigged bone handle. Awesome little knife sheath package. Fit and finish excellent, price reasonable, great steel, nice thin slicing edge and razor sharp more than most any other knife I have seen. Just a top of the line everday working knife of high quality. Now I see why people rave. They are all go with some show thrown in for free.

Also impressed with my Chris Reeve Project 1 and Shadow IV. Nice leather sheaths, great blades, awesome IMHO. Fun stuff to have.

The Chive is fun, Sebenzas rule, and all of Bob Doziers stuff is great...but..

The crosscut on that Jerry Fisk handle is awesome!

I know that is difficult...nice stuff Jerry...KWM.

I can't say enough good stuff about my Boguszewski Cobra. Just plain great.

Tom Mayo TnT is right in there as well. I love to simply "flick" and look at the Cobra, but this TnT just begs to be used. Ultimate "user" knife.

I'll chime in on the Obenauf. Love mine, especially since I got Mike to remove that "wrong" thumbstud.

And finally, this Kershaw Boa. It holds it's own among my handmade or "custom" knives.

Mike
