What knife should I buy for whittling?

I think the Congress is a great pattern for carving. The shape of the handle seems to work better than a traditional whittler. I really love my Boker Congress Carver. The addition of the spey blade is nice for digging out spoon bowls, etc. It takes a SHARP edge.

Well I now have the Helvie and the Seahorse and my answer is "both".
The Helvie is the sharpest knife I've ever used. I can take translucent shavings off of wood with the slightest touch.

The Seahorse makes a great pocket whittler and while I can't seem to get it as sharp, the small blades are thin and precise with the large main wharncliffe is sturdy and pointy. It arrived from a fellow member with a hand convex on all three blades that I'm just stopping smoother and smoother with each use.

Now I need to actually finish a few of the many half started projects that I've half carved!
