I am almost 16, and I am in Boy Scouts. I am looking for a good durable knife (straight edge folder) that is under $60. It doesn't have to be pretty, i just want it to have a good steel/blade and functionality. (If you want info just ask) any help is greatly appreciated!

Do you mean you want a straight edged single blade, like a lambfoot/sheepfoot? The only one of those I can think of in your price range would be one of the A.Wright knives. They are generally well made, and are in the $50-70 price range.
Or, look at the GEC Farm and Field Calf Pen... two blades, one is a straight edge (wharncliffe) and the other is a round end blade, like a spey blade, with a "one hand" feature. I think they are generally in the $75 range...

The best thing to do is go to Collector knives web page and scroll through their inventory.
the Maserin Plow is a sweet knife in your price range. Maserin has others within your budget that you may like better.
Be sure to let us know what you picked out. And post a pic.

A Douk Douk would fall into your price range, at 31(my age not the price of the knife) it's the most carried knife in my rotation. Don't fall for the tacticool knife talk, like @jackknife says "doesn't matter if it's small as long as it's sharp"

I used a buck lite in Boy Scouts many many years ago. It served me well. I still have it. I suggest that or a buck 110 or 112. Plenty large, comfy and should last a lifetime.

Case Sodbuster Jr. , Buck 112 Lite, these are 2 very durable options. Opinel would be another choice.

This is a good blade with some very tough material and way under your budget . I actually prefer a Sheepfoot or Lambfoot blade . They are both straight edge blades . I would suggest that you do not yet know what blade you will prefer . The reviews by the customers of the Maserin Plow rate them as a 5 Star and the dealer is a very good one . You also could look in Antique Stores for an old knife with a Sheepfoot Blade . Stay with some of the good old brands though like Case , Camillus , Robeson , Buck , or Schrade .
Good Luck in finding your first knife young man .

If your counsel requires locking knives, and by straight you mean non serrated you can’t go wrong with a buck. Also the KaBar dozier seems we’ll belt. One of the ASMs in my son’s troop and has abused it to no end and it keeps going. KaBar also has a Mule that is in expensive but heavy. Mine is well made and I have not had to sharpen it yet. Used it last weekend cutting a ton of paracord. If you are not bound by locking rule, the buck or case stockman have recently won my attention. Not too expensive if they get lost.

Depending on how much time your Scout Troop spends in the outdoors I could see some knives being more useful than others. Or if you shopped around you could get two quality knives for your $60. I’d pick a Victorinox Swiss Army Knife, either the Camper or Hiker. They will have a variety of tools that will be useful in Scouts, especially that very capable saw. Then, if you're allowed I would look at a Buck 110 for your belt. Both extremely solid knives that will give you a lifetime of use if you take care of them. You should be able to get both of those for right around your budget.

Good luck on your choices and let us know what you decide on.

Maserin Plow plus a Victorinox Classic will cover all your needs. Very high quality knives at a very reasonable price.

I've been involved in scouting for more than 60 years. My son is an Eagle Scout and OA Chieftan. You can't go wrong with a Victorinox Swiss Army Knife (SAK). Get a Pioneer X. Should fit your budget. Very high level of quality. A knife that is rust free (You can get it wet with no problems what-so-ever). Easy to keep sharp and it can do almost anything you need to do. It also has a nice lanyard ring on it. Perfect for anything you want including scouting.
