I am considering purchasing a SOG multitool, but their knife steel is listed as "stainless" with no model such as 420HC. If anyone could help it would be much appreciated.
i have never seen the multitool steel mentioned anywhere, but i know a lot of the sog pocket knives are aus-8. seems like it would be pretty soft for a plier head, but i could see them using it in the rest of the tools. not sure though, just figured i would throw that out there.
Eyup All, 1st post......
I can't comment on what steel they use but I can say, I've owned a paratool for over 8 years and its still going strong. the knife blade holds its edge an sharpens well, but wont stand abuse (the only part ice needed to replace).
the wood saw blade I have used to cut steel of tool grade. I removed the jaw from a stainless spanner !
the saw is still plenty sharp. the pliers hard wire cutter has never faulted after cutting many a barbwire fence.
all in all a great M.T.
